the cuckoo clock is only one part of this charming swiss town in ohio...many of the buildings in sugarcreek have beautiful swiss murals painted on the tops...lost of swiss flags flying beside the american flag...the alpine museum is a great way to spend a couple hours too...this is a nice detour thru amish country...

Totally enjoyed watching the clock when it hits the hour and half hour. There really is a show to see and loved the music too. If you are anywhere in the area, it is worth the visit. The whole town is nice to see.

The clock goes off on the half hour, so we had just missed it. We waited for approximately 27 minutes for a very short show. It was cute.

I remember when the cuckoo clock was located at a nearby restaurant for many years. You had to put a quarter in a turnstile and then walk up stairs to view the clock. We would eat and then check it out before experiencing the rest of Amish country. Many years ago, the restaurant where the clock was located closed and the clock had started to fall in disrepair. Fortunately, a few years later several people got together and moved the clock to the spot where it’s located today. It was refurbished and restored to its former glory. The clock now runs every half hour right in the center of Sugarcreek and there is no fee to view it. There are benches so you can sit and watch the short show. There are a couple of unique stores and a restaurant (Beachy's Country Chalet) nearby. Another fun activity located right in the center of town is a horse drawn wagon ride. There are signs posted on the shop doors that tell you when the wagon boards. It's run for donations only. You get to take a ride around the town and get a little bit of history while doing so; I definitely recommend this activity if you're in the area. The Alpine Hills Museum is located in the center of town as well and is run by donations. They have lots of unique items in here and it's worth spending some time if you've never been before. Also, if you don't mind a little walk there is a small grocery store a couple blocks away from the main area and they sell regular grocery items plus some specialty items like gluten free products. In the same store, there is also a small cafe right next to the deli that sells sandwiches and ice cream.I wouldn't go significantly out of my way to visit but if you're nearby I would definitely stop and check out the clock and the town of Sugarcreek! It's a nice way to spend an inexpensive day out with the family.

Yes, it's really a large Cuckoo clock and had figures that come out on the hour to dance for you. Really neat to see.
