Great beginner mountain biking trails. There is also a road loop for a road bike. It is a beautiful area. We often see deer and rabbit. The trails are often flooded after heavy rain.

I live near Flatwoods so I don't have to go to far to get back to nature. It offers paved roads for biking, roller blading, running and dirt paths for hiking and walking. Deer, raccoon, wild boar etc can be seen. Nice park.

I love flatwoods but have to arrive first thing in the morning to avoid being ran over. Although most bikers are nice, some are rather rude. I had one guy tell me to get off the pavement and run in the grass. I paid my $2 just like everyone else and have every right to be on the pavement. It's not like I walking in the middle of the pavement. Some don't even announce "On your left", but give you nasty looks as they ride by. There is a bridge for walkers at one point, but I have been hit twice by people riding there bikes across it. Don't get me wrong, there are some great bike riders that announce "on your left" and smile or say good morning. Outside of that, it is such a beautiful place to be, great views, and some great trails. Just arrive before the bikes get there.

This has become my favorite place to ride my bike due to the amenities: bathrooms at the parking lots, park rangers everywhere, water huts, loads of parking. Entry is $2 or buy am annual pass for $50. I've seen snakes, tortoises, deer, lizards, huge insects (grass hoppers and dragonflies). There are two spots where the asphalt path potentially goes underwater- your kids will love it!

Ran the 7 mile loop. I advise to start at visitors center. $2.00 entry fee. The loop starts .60 miles from the visitors center. The loop is asphalt and wide. There are water stops at the 3 and 5 mile points with shade. Mile markers at 1 mile intervals. Loop has a slight incline for the entire route; at least it felt that way to me. There is also a 2.3 mile out and back from visitors center to a bridge. Really enjoyed it. It is isolated and is not lit for night running.

I ride the loop inside flatwoods 3 to 4 times a week. This place is an excellent place to log some miles on your bike. If you ride on weekends, it's busy in the mornings so try later in the day if you want the place to yourself.

My husband and I took a nice long walk from marker 24 to 32 and back this weekend. It was an easy hike and not too hot under the tree cover. Since we have had so much rain lately, the mosquitoes were out and hungry, apparently for my blood. They took plenty but we still enjoyed the walk. This park is mainly a paved bike path, but there are hiking trails (for mountain bikes too) that are easy and well marked.

We have seen gopher tortoises here, as well as deer, snakes, and bluebirds. The trails through the woods are fun for biking. The Panther Trail is a bit more challenging than some others due to roots -- That challenge can be both fun and frustrating. The seven-mile asphalt road is great for riding bikes if you don't feel like going through the woods and there many runners and roller-bladers on it, as well as sometimes walkers.

One of the best maintained trails I have seen. Off road dirt trails and paved trails. The paved trails have water breaks about every two miles. The Park Rangers are helpful and friendly. We used the trail to help the boys in our group earn their bicycle merits.
