OK, it is a lot of concrete in a beautiful canyon. But it is very scenic and the visitor center is good. It doesn't take a lot of time, but if you are there to See Antelope and Horseshoe, you show go out to it.

So I thought I'd lost my 4-year-old (yes, that's me, traveling alone with my four kids again), and the staff was very helpful in finding him. Luckily, someone found him in the bathroom... he was just taking his time. Still, the staff dropped everything to find him. It's dangerous to loose a kid next to a 500 foot drop and a busy road. I was grateful for their help.We did a tour of the dam, and that was pretty fun for my kids. The tour guide was kind and patient with them. Common sense dictates that children are not allowed on shoulders, and the guide kindly reminded me of that when my common sense didn't kick in on its own. (We are walking next to huge drop offs, of course.)The gift shop is great. The museum is probably nice, too, but my kids had no tolerance for that. I'd go again with the husband if we get a chance.

We parked around sunset and walked out over the water, some amazing colors reflected in the water and canyon walls. Sun finished and we strolled back, very few people that late.

You get a great view from inside the visitor center. There is a nice gift shop and a great guided tour of the dam. We are glad we did it.

We arrived at the dam just before it closed and were advised that no more tours until 0900hrs the next morning, dually we arrived back next morning at 0855hrs thinking we were in plenty of time for the tour, only to be told that we should have arrived at least 15mins before the tour for security checks and the next tour was not for another 2 hours, as we had another 400 miles to drive we were unable to stay. Message for the staff, advise tourists and put on the website the full details of tours. Interesting small display, Great dam views outside

It's not for the weak-kneed, but the rest of the folks want to take photos for those who can't walk it. It's the best sight of the dam, possible.

Nice place to visit with the family and it's totally free! They have several interesting exhibits inside and you get an awesome view of the dam. It's a great place to stop by for about 30-45 minutes. They also have a pretty nice gift shop if you want to pick up any souvenirs.

Worth stopping to see the dam and canyon . You get up close look . They also have tours of the dam but we didn't need to take it after getting some great views for free. Great photo ops

The parking area is just south of the Denny's on the west side of the road. Park in the paved area and follow the trail. Enjoy the views of the Colorado River and the Glen Canyon Dam.

If I had more time I would have chosen for the guided tour to actually walk around the Glen Canyon Dam and get more information. Yet the visitors center right beside the dam is very interesting to go to.With video's, pictures and simple explanations you get the story behind the dam, why it's been build next to many others, its connection to Grand Canyon and why it's been called Glen Canyon. Since I first visited the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, all this information was very interesting to read after. I've read a lot there as well and this information connected to the info I've read before.Lake Powell and the connection to the Glen Canyon Dam is also explained very thoroughly and the way the visitors center is set up, I liked a lot. Not too much reading, huge photos and video's that ask visitors to touch the screen and move forward if they want to know more or less.Driving from their up to Panguitch was definitely one of the more beautiful road trips I did and if you stop here you should also stop a little down the road at HorseShoe Bend.This is a great stop on your way!
