I have been here twice this week - it was excellent on both occasions, and the latter with friends who were equally enamoured with El Sitio. The decor is lovely, like an authentic bodega should be not some cheap wine bar. The service by the couple who own the place is superb; nothing is too much trouble to explain or to let you taste before you drink. The menu is not big but that means its fresh and not out of the freezer. In particular the following are excellent: duck paté, iberian pork platter, black pudding, giant grilled prawns, garlic prawns, potatoes bravas.

We stumbled across this beautiful place about a month ago. The owners are very nice and sweet people. My husband has coeliac disease and can't eat wheat or gluten. But they provide an excellent gluten free menu and also gluten free bread which is very rare in many of the Spanish restaurants. It is a laid back place to eat, no rush and no pressure and we love it. Food is very delicious, good value and healthy and the scenery is amazing. Always get a fantastic welcome from Antonio and Linda. #amazing

Just returned from our holiday in Mojacar and during our second week, we discovered El Sitio. What a wonderful experience it was! We enjoyed a very warm welcome and enjoyed a lunch of delicious tapas and a glass or two of wine. We sat inside and this gave us the opportunity to soak up the beautiful interior. Every corner of the restaurant offered something of interest to look at, adding to the whole experience. A feast for our eyes as well as our taste buds.

I took a party of 6th form students to Mojacar Playa for 10 days work experience in another country and environment. We were made very welcome and the students were not made to feel out of place. The owner is obviously a trained sommelier and was quite willing to share his skills with the students.. His wife was very helpful in suggesting non-alcoholic drinks for the under 18'sIt added a Spanish element to their experience. The environment is welcoming and comfortable. We never felt pressured to buy more drinks but the service was prompt and courteous when required.Altogether a place to visit and enjoy a pleasant relaxing and enjoyable evening.

Have been going to Mojacar every year since about 2001 and never been to El Sitio before. This small, charming and unpretencious bar is not to be missed. A warm welcome, great tapas, reasonable prices and a genuinly chilled relaxing atmosphere. The owners are lovely people too.Give it a try, you be pleased that you did.

A picturesque bar tucked away off the main front. Run by Antonio and his partner with a pretty terraced area made cosy by gazebos and twinkling lights. A bar with a relaxed atmosphere that you must visit during your stay.

A lovely couple Antony (Spanish with limited English and Linda fluent in both) run this little bar. Very friendly a place which I can recommend. It is not a restaurant but they provide a variety of Tapas. Worth a visit

This bar is a gem. The owners are so friendly and welcoming and really go out of their way to make your visit worthwhileWe spent a couple of hours here and had a fantastic lunch. The boards with cheese, ham, olives, tomatoes etc are fantastic. Tapas sizes are available for most items and the quality and value are exceptional. I would highly recommend. Looking forward to our next visit. Ray B

I was here a few nights back in April with my partner and we both had a fab time making new friends. It is a lovely little bar, ran by really welcoming staff. No complaints from me.

Thank you for your feedback on our bar. We are always pleased to hear from visitors and learn from the comments. Clearly you seem to be familiar with the original ‘Sito’s’ establishment as a late night drinking club/come music bar run by two popular gay Brits. You will also no doubt be aware of the circumstances leading to the establishment closing? And of course you will be familiar with the new laws introduced by the local Town Hall regarding live music or DJ’s, which now precludes us from having such entertainment? As you will no doubt appreciate one can never successfully replicate ‘an original’ and it was never our intention to do so. As Anglo/Spanish owners of the establishment we decided it was important to bring our own Anglo/Spanish feel to the bar, and stamp our own mark on the business, as a chill-out bar with cocktails, copas, vinos, tapas and raciones, seeking to attract our own mix of expatriate and Spanish customers for a different experience. As your visit was dated June 2013, you also won’t be aware that we have now introduced a Bodega with a wide range of cavas and wines for sale, together with a new food menu, further (happily) differentiating ourselves from the original. At El Sitio we bring our own brand of warmth and chill-out experience and as you will see from the other 3 reviews is something of which the majority approve.….clearly it isn’t to your liking and that we understand. Thank you for taking the time to write
