Great thermal waters - several pools with different temperatures. The waters were high in iron, made your skin feel great...but it took a few washings to get the iron our of our swimsuits. They kept the beautiful natural landscaping. They are in process of constructing 2 additional pools.

Visiting the pools of Poca Da Dona Beija was the perfect way for me to unwind on vacation and really appreciate the natural beauty of Sao Miguel. Beyond the visceral pleasure of a hot soak in a natural geothermal pool, the tranquility of Poca Da Dona Beija's secluded island locale facilitated thoughts of peace and serenity...of enduring time, and the present moment. I've vacationed in Furnas twice now, and each time I've spent most nights soaking in the hot springs of Paradise Pools, head resting against ancient earthen stones as the water rushed over my body and I gazed upward toward the star-studded sky. For the price of a cup of coffee, I felt oneness with the earth and stars as my stresses became but memories.

Poca Da Dona Beija must not be missed when visiting Furnas! The property has a number of pools to choose from, which allows you to select the just the right temperature and keeps the environment intimate and never over-crowded. Staff are friendly and grounds are not only clean but beautiful! The hot springs are open most of the day, but I would recommend visiting at night when you can unwind in the thermal waters while looking up at the stars from the lava rock pools below. For only 2 euros a guest can stay as long as they like, with access to a restroom, changing facilities, and small gift shop featuring local Azorean goods.

110F pools. Nice changing area with cold showers. Pretty! Definitely worth a visit for a dip. Centrally located in the village.

The Poca was undergoing some construction, but that didn't detract from our experience. The changing rooms were nice, and even though it seemed chilly, it was a comfortable walk to the pools. There are two of different depths and they perch above the stream with the water spilling off the side like small cobbled infinity pools. The orange color from the iron streaks anywhere you touch the surface of the pool. But it is easy to rub off. Our hotel gave us big beach towels to use at the springs and said if they are washed within two days, all the orange comes out.The water temperature was pleasant and didn't stink like sulfur springs do. We were the only people in the shallower pool and it was great floating around, heading the sounds of the rushing stream and being surrounded by rocks and vegetation in the narrow valley.

Admission is cheap, only a few Euros each, the staff is friendly and attentive and the baths are amazing. The place is beautiful and well maintained. The security is diligent about watching your stuff so you don't feel uncomfortable leaving it unattended while you're soaking. Towels are provided with the price of admission.

A very enjoyable destination. The comments of recent reviewers are accurate-this is a well cared for resource with 2 hot pools (one deeper than the other) at the temperature of a warm bath. The price, 2 euros, is minimal. Towels can be hired for a further 2 euros. We spent a very happy 90 minutes or so soaking in the warm water and enjoying the experience of doing so in the outdoors, enjoying the lush vegetation of the valley in which the springs are set.

Beware, the tourist map is misleading as it indicates the Pools are adjacent to the main road (Estrada Regional 2-1). It isn't. Follow Rua da Igreja from the centre of Furnas (once you have mastered the crazy one way system) and then turn right when you see the sign post.Having got that out of my system(!) the pools are very nice. Good changing facilities. Don't rub your costumes against the orange sides to the pools as it is difficult to wash off. Nevertheless a great place to relax after an energetic day of walking. Recommended.

It was such a relaxing place, we went there 3 times during our stay in Sao Miguel. It was very relaxing, and well-managed. Changing rooms were very clean and had the proper facilities. The entrance fee was only 2 Euros, and the hot water pools were 39 degrees Celsius. There was also a hot & cold combined pool, very useful if travelling with young children who might not be able to withstand the hot water. Very warm and comforting even in cold and rain. It's in the middle of Furnas, but not good advertising....good restaurants nearby.

This place is a gem. It was hardly crowded in December and has 2 hot pools and one waterfall area where the hot and cold water (from the mountains) mix. They were undergoing some construction in adding two more lukewarm pools for summer.Like the other reviews, its a steal for the price. We ended up going there to just relax and drift off to sleep that night. It was hard to drive back though...
