This has to be one of my very favourite NT properties. Unforgivably, despite once having lived in Warwickshire, I had never visited before but am now smitten and can't wait to return. Unfortunately, due to prior commitments, our time here was limited but we were able to see enough to whet our appetite for future exploration. On a bitingly cold March day, we did not linger too long in the grounds but were able to admire the wonderful display of galanthus, aconites and crocus and appreciate how stunning the gardens must be in the warmer months. Our brief half hour taster tour of the house was absolutely excellent. Brenda, our guide, was so well informed and a fount of knowledge but conveyed the information with warmth and wit. We were only sorry that we were not able to spend the entire afternoon in her company! In such a short time we could only glimpse a fraction of the amazing art the house contains. The El Greco alone would have been worth a special visit. On a more 'down to earth' note, the cream tea in the restaurant was both delicious and great value, served by cheerful staff in lovely surroundings. I imagine it can get pretty packed at peak periods but there is plenty of outside seating also on offer (just not a very popular option on a cold winter's day!) This property surpassed all expectations on every count! Highly recommended!

We visited Upton House on a very chilly day but received the warmest of welcomes from all the volunteers. They seem to really enjoy the property and sharing their knowledge. The main exhibits in the house are the works in the art collection built up mostly in the first third of the twentieth century. Lots of porcelain, many paintings ranging from mediaeval to early nineteenth century. Having said that my favourites were two Tang dynasty pieces and the art deco bathroom. On cold days wrap up warm as the house is unheated for the sake of the art works. Parking is easy and there is a reasonably priced restaurant.

Seeing this house, enjoying this supurb garden, listening to the great National Trust Volunteers. It is a privilege to go there and also enjoy the restaurant.

The National Trust do a great job at Upton House. The house is interesting albeit a little sombre. The gardens are lovely and generally well looked after. VERY nice restaurant for meals, drinks and snacks. Nice woodland walk for children. We visit frequently and always enjoy ourselves.Well done staff and National trust.

I stopped at Upton House on route from Birmingham back to Hampshire, primarily to let the children strtch their legs and burn some energy before the long trip! I am very glad i did.It was actually by chance, as oppose to planning, that i found Upton House. It was well sign posted and being a NT member i decided it would be perfect (and free) to visit.Although it was a cold February day, it is obviously that come Spring the gardens will be majestic! Upton is a glorious house, from the outside, set in wonderful grounds. Not many flowers were about, but the views were fabulous. They had set up a short treasure trail for the children with some very interetsing facts about old coins/money - which we paid £2 each for and at the end the children all recieved an old coin as a prize. it was very well done. The actual signage around the grounds to direct you to the house entrance was poor. the entrance is actually at the side of the house, and it by appointed tour times only. We were meant to get a ticket for a house tour fom the front gate, but sadly hadnt been told about that. so when we spoke to a lady about entering the house we were told that we couldnt. It was a bit of a let down as it would have been nice to see inside the house. The restaurant was nice. It was far too busy, due to half term, and too many tables had been crammed in to accomodate the crowds - which actually made it difficult and too crowded. May have been nice to have some seating outside and less inside - even if that meant we had to wait a while to sit. The food served was lovely and everyone was very pleasant.Overall, a very nice place to atop but just a shame we couldnt see inside.

I went to view Renaissance Art and was impressed by both the treasures there and the wonderful service I received from the guides. I'll be back on a sunny day to enjoy the other treasures too. I fully recommend it!

This is a wonderful national trust property with a lot of interest. Good cafe as expected from NT.There are a number of NT properties in the area if you are touring, and this is well worth a visit.
