Right on the water, this place has so much to offer, waterfront strolls to wildlife watching to a lesson in history. Camden is a river mouth away, and of course Dungeness power station looms in the far background. We have had some amazing walks here and look forward to revisiting in the future!

Sadly it was a very dire walk from Rye.. Should have driven or local transport as the road from Rye to Rye Harbour is worse than a race track. And I'm not trying to be smart. Maybe we picked the wrong day. The pleasure comes after the industrial site but sometimes it's difficult to divorce the two.

Love it here, spring, summer, autumn or winter! Each season has something to see, or hear, on the reserve. Enjoy walking down to the beach from the caravan park with the dogs. Lots of nature...birds, rabbits, insects, sheep (enclosed away from dogs!) to see. The sunsets and sunrises can be amazing. Good for nature photography and bird-watching in the hides. Or even just listening to the waves on the beach. I've heard cuckoo's in spring, seagulls all year round, and saw/heard plenty of other birds that I'm no good at naming! If you think it's bleak in winter then just look again, it's amazing what you will see!!

Many times have I been here in all weathers, walking my dogs - who love coming here. Usually windy but the temperature of that wind depends on the season, either way it is a fantastic place to come yo. Walk down the main pathway and see the rabbits going about their business, pop into one of the hides and watch the birds and ducks out on the marshland - fascinating! Carry on down the path and you can get yo the beach, wild and natural - no deckchairs or ice-cream sellers here! On the walk you can watch fishing boats going out and see across to Camber a completely contrasting beach ! Everything here is natural, captivating, bracing and mind relaxing, you go home from here feeling very refreshed, wonderful for kiddies as safe to ride bikes and scooters but watch out for the many dog walkers and dogs !!

I can's speak more highly of the nature reserve. It's stunning shingle ridges, gravel pools and austere beauty and interesting birds. A small informations centre explains the biodiversity. Ideally it should be combined with the 10/12 km circuit Walk to Camber Castle if time and weather allow (takes half a day). Free parking is a major bonus. There are a handful of reasonable places to eat in the village too or head back to Rye.

Wonderful that this unusual habitat has been preserved for wildlife and fascinating to see such a huge variety of birds and wildfowl. Several pathways which pass through and by the area, long and short.

Lovely reserve, plenty of birds around, we saw a bittern, kingfisher, marsh harrier and plenty more. Beautiful - lots of walks available. Sea views, hides, marsh views and castle ... Free parking too. Excellent! Bring hiking boots though - it's muddy!

Take a long walk all around not only to the ponds but to the castle and across the fields. There is a winter bittern roost hear abouts where you can see little and barn owls too. Its the hides and ponds that give the best rewards so many happy twitches and buckets full of birds.Nesting terns in spring summer, I have seen stoats here fox roe deer, birds bittern, Montague harrier, stucco heron, yellow wagtail, jack snipe, lesser yellow legs, do not concern yourself with time of year of course spring and autumn or peak migratory times but its wonderful just to be here and anything can drop in anytime.Sussex has so many nature reserves and wonderful bird watching sights , but a trip to rye makes it complete the worlds best fish and chip shop a million second hand book shops cobbled streets antique shops Rye harbour takes some topping even when the wind blows
