Had a very interesting visit on one of the open days it was informative and the staff were happy to answer any questions it was good to finally be able to see inside something that was used in the war

I can't encourage you enough to visit, it's history come to life - this place played a pivotal role in preserving western democracy! Take your children and encourage your teenagers to go. The story and tour is fascinating, everyone is enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. Not ideal for the less able though as there are a lot of steps - given that it's an underground bunker, that can't be too surprising! It is a little tucked away (signposted however) and you do need to make an advance appointment - well worth it though

Didn't really know what to expect here - especially with an 11yo, 9yo and 4yo in tow. To our surprise the tour and exhibits were fascinating and vividly described by our guide/ expert. Some of the gravity was lost on our youngest but our elder children were genuinely engaged by the demonstrations, visual presentation and exhibition. A sobering and interesting day out.

A wonderful insight into the battle of Britain. This is No 11 Groups control room, looking like a film set, but it's the real thing! Unchanged since the war. Anyone with an interest in the Second World War should visit.Booked tours only, but check the website to be sure. We were shown round by an extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic volunteer, who will answer all your questions, either basic or expert. You will end up understanding how it all works, and what all the signs mean.Free to enter, but they do ask for a donation.Check your route before you go. It isn't easy to find, and there are constant road and footpath closures, due to the redevelopment of the old RAF camp. It is walkable from Uxbridge tube station, but it'll take 20-30 mins.Be aware that there are about 70 steps down to the bunker, and therefore the same number of steps back up, and no lift.

We visited with my dad who lived through the war and remembered many of the names of the airfields and was able to relate stories of living through the war in Ruislip. It made me feel so humble that so many young men had given their lives in the defence of our country. The bunker is a key part of our history and should be visited by all.

Visited here for the first time with a group of Cubs and Scouts. The rooms are really interesting and the guide was very helpful.

What a special place. This is where the Battle of Britain was won and it has not changed since 1940. One cannot feel a shiver when you see how the very young pilots were directed using our unique integrated defence radar system which the Germans totally under estimated. The atmosphere is electric and much more people need to visit. Surely it should now be taken over by the National Trust? Yes make sure you are generous in the donations box. Steve the guide and the curator were excellent. This is where Churchill said first " Never was so much owed to so few"
