Went there one cold Sunday afternoon In spring. This was a really lovely surprise. Has lovely gardens, a really interesting history which is on display in the outhouse and a little cafe for a hot drink and bite to eat. Not very interesting for teenagers but fine for their parents as we discovered when our 15 year old started complaining. Nice for an afternoon out on a warm day.

We chanced upon this attraction after getting a little lost on a long walk. We were cold and peckish. The service was so friendly and efficient and the food was amazing. Would certainly recommend their toasted teacake and hot chocolate!

This place is beautiful - such nice scenery and so well looked after. Good for a nice little stroll and there is also a little cafè to grab a drink from if you need one.

Beautiful historic garden. Excellent interpretation.Very well maintained.Friendly staff.Walk from train station a bit uncomfortable. We were heckled at more than once by locals!!

Very very cold when I visited today with an old friend, but the tea and cake in the from the tea room was lovely sitting in the winter sunshine and made up for the cold! The history of this garden is interesting and I am sure it will look fantastic as the spring bulbs all come up. It was a snowdrop sale today so a bonus of free parking. The gardens are free to enter and it is usually a pay and display car park. Both my friend and I have some horticultural training and we both found this a good couple of hours. Different seasons will bring different delights! The house was closed today so I cannot comment on it.

I just spent 3 weeks traveling around S-Central UK, enjoying the sights as my husband worked. Myddleton House Gardens was one of my top favorites.Perhaps because it was designed and lovingly cared for by someone like me, but with money to indulge his curiosity: SO many things are tucked here and there in an organized chaos that keeps secrets and surprises for everyone who looks.The car park, although charging for a visit, wasn't too bad for a "free" garden to roam: I think it was £2 for 2 hours and £3 for unlimited. There REALLY should be something worked out between the car park company and the Myddleton House Gardens so that either a discount on food is available with a ticket, or, to benefit both, a purchase from the gift shop or cafe in some amount allows the car to remain longer. I felt very rushed to leave after my car park time was up (I chose the shorter period because I didn't know how much I would love the gardens). I would gladly have paid £1 more to stay longer and even get something at the lovely little cafe to relax and refresh before exploring the grounds again. But I didn't want to pay another £3. So I left and wandered over to Forty Hall for the rest of the afternoon.Others have covered much of the appeal here: a little pond with fish and ducks, paths, multiple gardens, etc. One of my favorite little areas, just for laughs, was the "insane asylum," named so because the odd plants were put there. And they are so appealing and odd - in a good way.I highly recommend this site to anyone in the area. I was quite delighted with Enfield in general: there is a string of such lovely gardened properties, all different but somehow similar. This road alone is worth a day or two to visit for the outdoors/gardening enthusiast.It would be hard for me to stay less than 2 hours, and I certainly could see spending a full day here. Don't be put off if you have only an hour, as it's not exceptionally large and even such a short stroll would do wonders for your disposition.

These gardens, created by E. A. Bowles, himself a gardener, are a delight to look around, the more so, if one is booked on one of the guided tours at £3 per head. The gardens are quite extensive, and there are some interesting little quirks. There is also a small museum. Quite a good on-site café serves coffee, tea and cakes and light lunches, eg jacket potatoes and home-made soup. Though a word of warning, particularly if one is in a group - get their first! There is ample on-site fee-paying parking - £2 for up to two hours or £3 per day. The House itself is only open one day per annum and that is during the Heritage Open House weekend. Worth spending a couple of hours or so there, and then perhaps taking in Capel Manor Gardens, and time permitting, Forty Hill House to make a good day out.

Worth a visit but there isn't really very much there. Need to have some work done on it to make it a better local attraction
