I'm sorry that you didn't appear to enjoy your visit. Distances always seem further when walking in the rain but it's only a couple of hundred yards from the car park to the gardens. I'm also sorry you didn't find the toilets - located in the car park, or the refreshments we sell in the ticket office. October is often the best time to see the gardens as the autumn colours of the maples are amazing. We're proud of the 4-star award given to the gardens by Visit Scotland.

Only rated this as average - because of the facilities and parts of the garden needed a good weeding! The gardens are stunning from a distance - but once you get up closer a bit of work needs done. Nowhere to get a coffee or a meal on site. If they did this I'd definitely mark up. Good parking, nice walks for all. Toilets at car park. Dogs allowed on a lead.Would definitely return as I love the gardens - and there are good pictures to be had - maybe take a flask, etc. next time.Entrance fee (smallish).

This formal garden was more than I expected. The formal hedging, statues and beautiful trees give this garden a wonderful atmosphere.

Despite several visits to Crieff we have always missed this place. Well we missed a gem. If you are in the area this has to be seen. It's magnificent

I had seen pictures of this shared on Facebook and made sure we went when we were in the area.It did not disappoint, the view as you walk out onto the terrace is breathtaking. The desings throughout were beautifully manicured and well looked after. We were there in Autumn and the leaves were just starting to turn. The colours were amazing. There were still some flowers blooming but I can only imagine how it would look in summer. There was a lovely display of dahlias? near the greenhouse out the back that were beautiful too. There are plenty of places to sit throughout the garden and enjoy the garden but no café.

To see such a beautiful parterre garden on such a scale was overwhelming. We were really taken with it. The layout is varied and well thought out. The initial view from the castle level looking down onto the scene below is jaw dropping. The maintenance of the garden isn't perfect but no doubt matters are covered in a rota. It certainly didn't spoil it for us unlike the previous reviewer. £5 admission will certainly not cover the maintenance costs.

We visited on a lovely sunny Friday in August, being nearly the first through the gates at opening time. At first glance the gardens looked stunning and we were thrilled to be there with only one or two other groups to share our, almost private, visit. As we continued around we began to notice little shortcomings and gradually these spoilt our experience totally and we left early, feeling our entrance fee was a total rip-off. The faults included:-* A great need for the gardening team to go through EVERY bed with a hoe and remove the weeds - some of which were more plentiful than the plants that were supposed to be in the beds.* Some of the plants in the beds were so poor and scratty that the whole range of beds needed ripping out and replanting, one section that particularly springs to mind is the lavender beds.* The box hedging had been recently trimmed and the trimmings had been left strewn over the pathways and the beds they were containing.* In trimming the box borders the workmen looked to have used a chainsaw and the little hedges bordering the beds looked hacked about with gashes in the shaping and no neat edges - very ugly and not what I expected from what is purportedly one of the finest formal gardens in Europe. * There were no seats to sit and rest or admire any views. A seat might have persuaded us to stay a little longer. * On leaving we were directed out along the back entrance of the grounds and once initial sign-posts set us on our way there were no further directions. The road was single track and convoluted and, at one point on meeting vehicles coming in the opposite direction it was necessary to reverse up a hill to passing place on a bend in order to continue. To answer Janet H's comment in July, about the entrance fee of £5, in response to a review by Pat H in June:- On leaving I counted 20 vehicles in the car park, many of which seemed to have had more than 2 adults travelling in them, there was also a coach park with a coach parked in it. On the lowest side 20 cars with only 2 adults would have generated £200 in just a couple of hours allowing people to wander around the gardens. Therefore I CAN expect to see quality well maintained gardens with gardeners showing care in the execution of their duties. And yes I did count the cars because I was so cross at having had to pay £5 each to walk around such disappointing gardens. I have visited Castle Howard in North Yorkshire and RHS Hyde Hall in Essex and had no such complaints with those gardens. I would have rather paid a couple more pounds and seen well tended gardens than the scruffy mess I saw during our visit. Not to mention the noisy strimming that started up shortly after we arrived, which I felt could have been undertaken during the morning before the gardens opened.

We visited in August 2014. This garden is absolutely stunning, and breath-taking when you had your first glimpse from the top.We arrived just past 1pm when it opens and the garden was quite empty. We were able to take a lot of nice photos. There is a bridge on the far-end, great to have your photos taken there with the castle in your background. As there were still not too many people by the time we left at 2:30pm, hope there are sufficient visitors to keep it running.

We visited on a wet day but it was still possible to wander around with umbrellas and enjoy the beautiful gardens. Stunning.
