Came for a short visit, walked around the park and took photos on the big chairs and bikes! Lovely winter afternoon for a walk around Vogrie, the house is stunning, would love to visit during the summer.

Great park areas for the kids.Lovely open park for walks.Only negative would be paying to park, but it's only £1, so still good value.

We visited the park on a windy autumn day. There were quite a few people there. It costs £1 to park and you have to get a token from the first machine before you get to the car park. There is a small playground in the car park that is good for toddlers. There are also toilets which we didn't use so can't comment on condition but good to know they were there. A path walk past barbecue areas led to a much larger adventure playground with a bigger slide and also wire slides and rope nets for older children. All the equipment was in good condition. There is a pond with dipping platforms and there are activities in the summer holidays. The cafe was open but we didn't purchase anything. Nice large cut grassy areas provide plenty of space for children to run around or for picnics. There is a small gauge railway that currently provides about a ten minute ride and there are plans for extension, it wasn't running when we visited. A very nice park great for family picnics in the summer

Vogrie Park is a large park which is free to enter (barring the modest £1 parking fee). It is a lovely place for a family day out if the weather is good. There are a mixture of walking trails around the park, all of which are varied and interesting without being too long. The most-used path leads from the car park to Vogrie House itself and goes through a woodland, around a walled garden, and past larger-than-life sculpture in the form of a giant tricycle and giant chairs. In front of Vogrie House is a large open grassy area good for laying out a picnic rug or bringing a ball or a Frisbee.Best of all for the kids, the play park facilities are out of this world. There is a small toddler play park in the car park. And next to Vogrie House there is a huge play park with sections suitable for all ages of children. Believe me you will have to drag your kids away because they could spend the whole day here.Vogrie House itself is used to house some offices (I think for the Midlothian Ranger Service) so it's not a property you can look round. However it does have a café and a soft play area. The café serves simple food and is a useful facility but do check its opening times before you visit. The soft play is unimpressive and has an additional charge, so not worth it given the massive (and free) play park outside. There is a miniature railway in the park however I've never seen it operational. The ranger service also organises some ocassional events like bat walks and pond-dipping but I haven't been to these.

Lovely park. Some great walks. Some steep climbs so will not be good for everyone. Great for dogs as there is a stream to drink from. Remember to take a £1 for parking!
