Had to drag our grandchildren away in the end, they were so engrossed in everything there. The staff, pretty much all volunteers, are excellent - so helpful. The shows are good too.

We visited techniquest during half term. Caught the train there - a treat for our trains mad little boy. We paid for it mostly with tesco vouchers. 5 children aged 5-12 - there was something for everyone. Our little boys loved the water display and spent ages there, the girls tried everything. It was busy but being the last Friday of half term that was to be expected. There was a cafe - but we took our own food and sat outside overlooking the bay. (Nice on a dry day, would be even better in summer). Techniquest cafe was overpriced and the take away coffee I had the smallest I've seen. Their shop, however, was very reasonable on the whole with plenty of 'pocket money' toys. Staff were all friendly and obliging. Their toilets are ridiculously small for such a big visitor attraction. Only one hand dryer working in the ladies' too. We thoroughly enjoyed the show on 'bubbles and bangs' (I think it was bangs!) - the staff made it fun and interesting...one hint I would give them both is to slow down when explaining scientific concepts to children - a lot of what they said went over their heads. However, they did very well. Our 7 year old (and other children) got to help out the front with some bubbles and was delighted at that! All in all a good day - definitely recommend for a rainy day.

Visited twice over the half term and the children really enjoyed. They can't wait to visit again. The shows were good and age appropriate. The annual membership for a family of four is excellent value at £50. The website calendar has allowed us to look ahead and decide when we will visit next. An excellent attraction for inquisitive children.

We visited on half term and although got there just after opening time there was a long queue. Staff did let me and my son in, but said my husband had to wait in the queue to pay even though we had a complimentary pass that had been bought previously. If we hadn't had the pass we would have walked away, but my son was excited to be there so my husband said he would queue. He spent 45 minutes in the queue, and it was a very cold morning to be standing outside. By the time he got in we had been around many of the attractions and it was so busy queues were forming at the activities. Activities that had been completed were still completed as staff were busy and some people unfortunately don't know how to queue and were pushing in. One child actually snatched an activity out of my son's hand. We only stayed another hour so although it was meant to be a family day out my husband missed half of it. We certainly won't be visiting again, although my son enjoyed. I think they need to review their ticketing policy and manage visitor flow better. By the time we left it was crowded and there was still a long queue outside.

Fab day out -it's all inside so doesn't matter if it's raining. Gets VERY busy and noisy but kids had a fab time.

We went for a visit as in Cardiff for the day. We have been to other places aimed for kids like Eureka and the Manchester Science Museum, so had high hopes. It was busy as it was half term but I can honestly say our 2 boys, (aged 11 and 8) had seen enough after an hour whereas in the other places we've had to drag them away. Shame as I liked the place but felt it was too expensive for what was on offer.

Took the unfortunate mistake of travelling with my family to Techniquest on a wet half-term day. I couldn't believe the queue and was told that it would take about 30 minutes for the person paying in the family to get through. It actually took my husband 45 minutes to queue. The staff did let myself and my children through - which was something. The reason for the queues was due to it being half-term and the staff said that this is what it is like and you just have to wait. It was busy, difficult to get on some of the activities as the children just had to wait their turn. The cafe was expensive and wasn't big enough. The items in the shop are expensive and break easily. We spent a total of 2 hours there and had had enough !!! expensive family entry for what it is. Sorry techniquest, this is the last time we every visit you again !!!

We have annual membership and usually enjoy coming to techniquest as a reliable indoor venue. Usually bring own sandwiches as the cafe used to be horrid, but at least you know what you are dealing with. However, we queued for an hour in the rain this morning, no apologies for the wait which was clearly because there were only 3 desks, one of which was doing memberships. The cafe has been reopened, such a disappointment to find little improvement with a very basic range of food, over priced, all sugar based - and - a 70p charge for paying with a card under £5. In this day and age? Furious. ("Would you like to buy something else to make up the cost? No Thanks!") And there is nowhere to sit as there are only about 5 tables. Very underwhelmed, they should compare themselves to other venues and be embarrassed. I complained on the way out and got a very jobsworth response. Totally regret renewing the annual membership now.

If you've never been, then go - particularly if you have restless children and need somewhere to go on a wet half-term weekday. There is a cafe and a refurbished bookshop. Experiments galore and something for everyone - including somewhere where mischievous children (of all ages) can get very wet - be warned!
