The Castle itself is one amazing spectacle perched on top of its little hill, as a castle it is amazing, it looks terrific, inside is a little newer as it houses the royal family who stay there on occasion. The history of the castle has nothing to do with Bram stokers Dracula or the ruler Dracula (Vlad the impaler) but there is still a little bit of information available just don't expect a full horror fest. Its all about seeing the castle and it is great, and even without Dracula the history is very interesting with Teutonic knights and German Dragon orders, still very cool!

'Dracula's' castle looks exactly how you'd imagine from the outside, but inside is not as you might expect with bright white rooms. The building is lovely and there are also stalls ouside with a vast collection of cheap souvenirs or crepes / mulled wine (careful it's strong). With the location you do have to walk up the hill which is not too far, although perhaps not suitable for those with disabilities, and generally in Romania they don't seem overly concerned with gritting when it's snowy. Very pretty though!Visited in March and there weren't any queues or crowds at all which I was expecting having been to other attractions abroad and in London.

This is one of the main attractions you can find in Transylvania. The price for a tour of the castle is quite cheap, and the place has a rich history and a lot of things to appreciate. You really need to visit this place if you re planning a trip to Transylvania. Also, tou can find a lot of smart and cool souvenirs to remember the place.

we took the 2 castles in one day tour, and I could say that I like this castle better than Peles. It was just a little tiring going up to the entrance of the castle, but the view of the castle grounds is amazing. We went there on February and the palace looks magical covered in snow. outside the bran castle, there are lots of cafes and restaurants and I would recommend trying Terasa burg Bran for an authentic Romanian mici. You may also consider buying your souvenirs here as it is a lot cheaper compared to the shops in Bucharest.

What an amazing place, we visited during the snowy weather which made it more idyllic. The Castle was very beautiful and full of information. It would be the ideal place to play hide and seek... You'd need a month per go. Guided tours are available and the cost was reasonable. Would highly recommend a visit here! The locals are very friendly and we didn't get bit

In all the world, if I had to choose somewhere to live, it would be here. You get an amazing sense of history walking through these low ceilinged chambers and towers with secret stairways - I would recommend visiting on a week day as we did because there were absolutely no crowds. No more than 10 of us maximum in the castle while we were there, which gives you a much better sense of the place as you don't get that touristy-feel. The building itself is gorgeous, the grounds are surprisingly beautiful and the surrounding stalls and restaurants are all pretty good as well considering the tourist trap this place must be, especially in summer. When we visited there was a medieval torture instrument exhibit for a small additional fee. I would highly recommend it as an add-on, if you have the stomach for it - the illustrations and descriptions are pretty graphic. The souvenir shop within the castle was a lot less touristy than I would have guessed. If you're getting the bus (we came from Brasov) then get off 2 stops after you begin to see the 'vampire' guest house signs. Or ask, as everyone was pretty friendly - a lady told us which stop to get off for the castle.

I just could not get excited about this small & almost empty castle. If you expect to see a Dracula-themed attraction, give this a miss. Romanians view the place as the residence of their much-loved Queen Mary & do not generally associate it with Count Dracula. There are a few pieces of furniture & photos of the Romanian royal family, but there is not much to see inside. The views from some of the windows are spectacular. Beware of the staircases as most of them are hazardous, being narrow, twisting & with random loose treads. All part of the visitor experience, Romanian style! The scary part of the visit has nothing to do with our favourite vampire but using the external corridors gives an alarming feeling of leaving you hanging in mid-air with a long drop to the courtyard below. This castle is definitely for the more agile visitor. Even the access road is steep & unsuitable for wheelchair use.

Visited in the middle of summer when heat was in late 30's and found the whole experience very enjoyable.Travelled by train for about 3 hours and served raspberries on the train by the locals. At the train station if you don't speak the language difficult to establish where to pick up bus.Prepare for two buses that are very hot and the last one particularly tastelessy decorated in red velvet. Bottle of water needed here as well over 100 degrees.Arrived at village where castle was and found an overwhelming array of junk tourist items stretched out at every available place. Inflated prices for goods and restaurants in area expensive and not particularly good food. The entrance to the castle was a steep walk but worth the walk as the views were spectacular.History at every corner and well presented.Although it was very crowded you were able to take in the history and stories surrounding the castle. The castle from the outside is spectacular and inside feels more like a Spanish villa. Whilst it was cheap to get in , about 4 pounds it wasn't a very long tour for the time it took to get there. However it was great to go back and see the castle again after viewing it some fifteen years earlier. The castle hadn't changed but the tourist goods have expanded to a ridiculous level ans spoil parts of the town..Went with 9 year old daughter and despite being hot she really enjoyed the visit.

Actually the area of Brasov is pretty dang amazing! It's thouroughly beautiful, and up in the mountains. Castel Bran sit's up on a perch and kind of looks down on the surround meadow area. It's a very pretty area, beautiful climate in the summer, super fresh air. Makes you wonder how such a little terrorist could have been angry here haha. There are tons and tons of souvinere shops around the entrance area selling everything from sheep hats, to fake vampire teeth to these super amazing treats. I forget what they are called, but they look like pretzel bread wrapped around a drum and spun over fire until it's read, they sprinnkle with butter, sugar and shredded coconut. It's amazing $3, buy one and eat it warm and it will make everything better. My girlfriend introduced me to them and it was a hit! She's the best! So about Castle Bran. It's a small villa. Not a castle. It's very beautiful, nothing scary at all. I would sleep there. I wish it were my house! It's a cool place. Nothing to do with the movies. Castle Lupelish (I think is how you spell it) is MUCH MUCH nicer and cooler and it's about 30-40km away. There is a small, vague and stretched imagination link to how Vlad the Impaler became Dracula. You'd have to be drunk or high to make the connection haha. GO THOUGH!!! You can't miss the fact that telling your friends and loves ones you visited Dracula's Castle is a really cool talking point! Great story to tell. Also, visit the town of Brasov. Romania is a very beautiful country full of GREAT history and a lot of stuff happened there. WW1 started there basically. It's a cool place.
