The Communal Palace is the focal point of Buzau, located in the Dacia Square and being also the city hall. The stunning architecture and the very nice colors is a proof that you don't have to go only to very big cities to see nice sights. Indeed, in Buzau there are not so many touristic attraction, but the Communal Palace is not only the most beautiful building in Buzau, but also one of the most beautiful buildings in Romania, as Nicolae Iorga once said. The clock tower can be visited, but as there is no official information on the internet, if you want to go up i the tower, you should visit it on a weekday at working hours.

The Communal Palace is the landmark of the city. Same like you recognize Rome by the Colosseum, you will recognize Buzau by the Communal Palace. It has an interesting architecture which has no duplicate in Romania. It combines elements of traditional folk architecture with the modern style of the time. At a smaller scale there are a few other historic houses in Buzau that tried to mimic the style. The Palace also designates the Center of the city. In front there is a large plaza, called Dacia Plaza after the former superstore, from communist era, Dacia. The store building still exists and hosts the new shopping place WinMarkt. Right across from the Palace, you will find Hotel Pietroasa, highly recommended if you happen to visit the area. The Palace was one of the "battlefields" in the Romanian Revolution of 1989, and there is a modern statue raised in memoriam of the fallen heroes.Worth mentioning is also the other statue in front of the Palace, the one raised in memoriam of the 1907 Romanian Peasants Revolt.From the Palace you can walk on the main boulevard and reach the famous Crang Parc or if you venture in the opposite direction you can see genuine buildings and stores from beginning of the century. All in one this is a must when you visit Buzau, it is fully worth your time.

Right in the centre of Buzau, in the main square, if you find yourself in the town, go there. The square and part of the shopping area is now car-free and has been much tidied up in recent years. Buzau is not worth a special trip, it will never be a tourist-magnet, but at least they make an effort and the "Palace of the commune" is a striking building in a nondescript town.

The city's landmark building is the Communal Palace, located in the central Dacia Square. The Nicolae Bălcescu Boulevard links it to the Crâng park, Buzău's main recreational area.

Ce palais est dans le meme temps la Mairie de la ville de Buzau ou toutes les activites concernant les documents se deroulent et il y a le registre de la population. Devant le palais, chaque fois quand il y a un evenement important, une petite scene est forme et le spectacle des sons, lumieres et divertissement commence.
