You will not be disappointed. Plenty to see and do here, and very family friendly. Try to stay close to Basanaviciaus street for easy access to most attractions.

Palanga is a fishermen’s village in Lithuania near the city of Kleipeda. If you intend to enjoy village tourism you should be here. You can stayin a fisherman-hut with the family and enjoy fishing and cook the catch in the way you like. It is entirely a different experience you can enjoyno where else. Palanga has a large variety of pubs, restaurants, discothequesbars, night clubs and casinos. The Palanga Regional Park stretching in the direction of Klaipeda is another attraction with scenes of wild life and nature. It is altogether a heaven for tourists, a place where we wish to come again and again.

We like the area close to the park. The pine trees, the dunes, the beach are beautiful any time of the year.

Let start with the beach: they installed speakers every 20 meters so they can read to you the commercials on a 15 minutes base. HELL !Don't try to get a nap, a fast salesman will wake you up trying to sell some kepto duono. They pass every 5 minutes shouting their longs out. If not you will have a bunch of teenagers playing loud music for a nearby disco commercial (EXIT). No toilet except the one in the restaurants but for that you need to pay and go back 200 meters. Don't use the TOIMOI bio toilets, they are not empty on a regular base and also cost 2 litas. So the local people avoid the toilets and uses the........sea !If you travel with a Pram, good luck to reach the beach. Oh yes by the way, we are a family of three younger kids and a baby. From all Lithuanian beaches, Palanga is to be avoid, there is a beautiful nature and it is a shame it has been used like this. Go to Sventoy, Nida, etc... Second : the city : a real HELL if you try to get with your car to your hotel, don't rely on your direction skills, see it as a big maze. A city were every 15 meters, the are constructing or repairing a building, no sleep for you my friend, pay or leave town. The peak of the absurdity is reached when you go to the main street. A real joke : you cannot walk on the sidewalk, too much illegal sellers, and on both side of the street you have a red zone for bicycle ( one meter) , Seagway, everything on wheel. You end-up walking in the middle of the street with thousands of people, forbidden to have a look at the restaurant menu or the local shops with souvenirs.Third: the people. It is the only time in my life, where if I want to pay my hotel bill, the owner holds me a speech asking me not to pay with my bankcard because HE will have costs. I understood money is a major concern for all people living/working here. And the Euro is bringing only fear. I searched for an ATM about 10 minutes, asking directions to the ice-cream lady and people around ( not in english but in LT), only to realise it was next to the ice- cream lady, but because i was not buying, she didn't feel the need to help me out. For the kids attractions in the main street, get a stopwatch : if you kid stayed 5 minutes extra on an attraction, you will pay for it, they tag your kid with a label and come take pictures every 5 minutes.....unbelievable ! I see my negative comments and would like to finish on a positive note: it is a party city, a young city: you come, you drink, you eat uninteresting food, you live and dance all night, you don't sleep and then you start again. You don't need a car, you just survive and pay for every little pleasure you can take. And the beach is just to wash out what you drink and ate and to clean you up........

Market. Local grown vegetables, fruits, flowers and flea market.Everything is said in the headline :) Yes you'll find there grannies or farmers selling they're own grown seasonal vegetables, fruits, berries, flowers. It's really worth go there before you go to local grocery store. And another part of a market is full of second hand stuff: clothes, dishes, things, fabrics etc.Markets adress is Senojo Turgaus g. 12.

I liked Palanga a lot: wonderful beaches, parks, a lot of neaby towns and and sights where to go. It was very relaxing but opposite of boring. Very nice indeed!
