Had a free day after hurting myself on the slopes, so I took a shuttle (very easy to use) from Laax down to Caumasee lake. The lake was, of course, mostly frozen, but it was still quite lovely. Even in the winter this was a great place to walk. There were quite a few very well marked and well groomed trails to choose from, and the views were fantastic. None of the restaurants by the lake were open, but it was still a really popular place with a fair number of hikers and dog walkers.

This is definitely one of the best kept secrets of Switzerland. Nature Pure. We had this caribbean feeling because of the magical surroundings, the inviting vibrant color of the sea. And it was a bit of romantic as well. We just did a walk along the sea and took a lot of photos. It was simply amazing and we thought that we were not in Switzerland and somewhere in Caribbean. A must-sea especially during summer time.

When you pass through Graubünden (South East drom Switzerland) on your way to holidays in Italy, climb up to Flims and spend a day at the Caumasee. This beautiful Swiss mountain lake is nested at 1100m altitude and only accessible after 10' walk. During the seasonthere is a small fee to access the lake's amenities but is refundable at the restaurant when buying food.

Beautiful turquoise coloured lake close to Grand Hotel Flims (2min drive) and perfect for a 45min stroll or great swim in summer. Fantastic playground for children ages 2-10.

I have written before about attractions in and around Flims (reviews of Hotel Cresta and of Bargis), but this is the first I have done for Caumasee. This beautiful Alpine lake is about a 45-60 minute walk from our hotel, depending on whether we dawdle. The "trail" is paved, has several places to stop and sit if you wish, and 2 or 3 places for fresh mountain water. You reach a small funicular that takes about 2 minutes to take you down to the lake.Wow. It is gorgeous! It used to be that you could walk completely around the lake, but fences and gates on the far side have made this more difficult. MANY changes - seating, clean restrooms and places to change for swimming, play equipment for kids. And now SLACK LINES! Many of them, criss-crossing the lake. Some of the walkers are pretty good, too.The restaurant is cafeteria-style, but there are made to order dishes (rostis, pastas mostly). Otherwise, you can choose from the cold salad bar, wrapped sandwiches and desserts. They do make a good pommes frites! And my traveling companion liked the plain rosti. We go in the fall, so the temperatures are cooler, but not at all unpleasant. The views are great.(There is a fee, but not at the time of year when we go. I suspect this is for the peak summer season.)Take a hike and enjoy the lake!

We arrived around 5pm and the views from above are outstanding. You can swim, canoe or stroll around it. 100% visit if you can!

Definitely worth a visit in the summer (we went August 2013 but it wouldn't let me date it that far back)... lovely scenery and a great place to have a swim.

This is a beautiful lake. Surrounded by many trees, This is a great place to jump in the lake when the summer heat blazes through the sky. The only thing is that the water is cold.

There are several paths you can follow, walking around the forest and towards a few different viewing points. There is a lovely (but expensive) café at the Conn viewing point. When you get to the Caumasee, you are not disappointed. Although it's a shame it costs €10 to get inside for a swim, walking around the fence to have a look is also very nice. The elevator that takes you back up is free though and saves you an impressive climb!
