This is a large building with plenty of light with only the art and books of a single Swedish artist. This is the Varmlands which has more forest and meadows than all the rest of Europe. Lars had traveled to the Arctic and Anarctica and the displays were sort of patchwork quilt samples of a particular theme all in watercolors. There was so much to see that we stayed for hours before walking through downtown Karlstad. "Memories, words, sentences and fragments of images in his paintings together form a puzzle that captures impressions of life and warmth that perhaps may no longer exist."

If you visit Karlstad, and is interested in aquarels or paintings in general, you should spend at least 30 min at Sandgrund. Lerins paintings are really something! A nice presentation of his works and at lot of different views and focusareas. If hungry, you may have a light lunch at the place. Remember, the place is closed on mondays! Enjoy!

I really like the way Lars Lerin paint. He make his paintings full of life. I especially like the way he catches the light.

Lars Lerin is Swedens best watercolourpainter. Must be seen. He has been around the world and painted what he´s seen. Both the beatuiful and the poor and meager.

Lars Lerin, an artist who lives in Varmland, is highly thought of in Sweden and has indeed done many fine watercolours. But few of them are to be found here. The overall impression you get from the display is of greyness. There is very little colour. A few of the works stand out, perhaps 6 or so, but the paintings are displayed untidily and without mounting or framing. I really do not think it is worth paying 80 kroner to visit unless you are already an avid fan.

I had never imagined before that watercolor paintings could be this diverse. Animals, snow-landscapes, and exotic buildings, it's all there in Karlstad's former dance saloon. Lars Lerin certainly is a world class artist.

Lars Lerin is an interesting watercolor painter at a nice museum in Karlstad. Amazing paintings from many parts of the world.

Lars Lerins konst behöver inte någon beskrivning den är helt enkelt suveränt bra.Det är absolut värt ett besök och då läget är så nära Värmlands museum kan man anslå några timmar på båda platserna med kanske en mat/fikapaus emellan

Fin konst. Vilket ju förstås är subjektivt men om man besöker museet bygger det nog på att man gillar Lars Lerin... Annars blir det lite enahanda med bara en konstnärs verk. En sevärd tillfällig utställning med fotografier från Afganistan. Men som besöksmål kändes det ändå inte helgjutet. Lite ödsligt, lite kalt, inte särskilt ombonat eller genomtänkt, utan mer som en stor lokal där man råkat hänga upp en massa tavlor. Och så ett kalt kafé mitt i alltihop som inte heller inbjöd till att sitta ner. Känns lite som ett budgetalternativ (dock inte vad avser entrépriset) till grannen Värmlands museum som man kan besöka många gånger.

Lars Lerins konst tiltalar mig och det är trevligt att titta på hans målningar. En del av de temporära utställningarna som varit där har varit bra. det finns möjlighet till fika och enklare mat, men den miljön är under all kritik. Påminner om en skolmatsal från 80-talet. Synd i en sådan annars fin miljö. Att man inte utnyttjar den fantastiska verandan med utsikt över klarälven är för mig en gåta.
