A lot of trains and modeltrains at the warehouse. Nice visit and fun to go by train/bus to and from the museum and railwaystation.

We took our 2 year old son to this museum and he just loved it, and we quite enjoyed it as well! This is far better than the transportation museum in Stockholm, and there were a lot of activities for the kids as well, such as a play room with model trains, dress up train station, Lego city with a train going around, outdoor mini train to ride, and little toy ride-ons in the play ground. We also enjoyed climbing up and down the old train models and seeing the insides. A very enjoyable and educational outing for us all!

OK, I'm a railway nut, but I think most people would find this museum delightful, from the clockwork model trains in the entrance to the great brooding steam locos in the halls. There are excellent facilities for children, with a miniature railway and lots of things to play with indoors, plus a good bookshop with toys. Gävle is about an hour's journey from Stockholm on the train, but to my mind well worth the trip. Be warned that the museum is about half an hour's walk from the town centre, but there are also buses - and they take credit cards! :-)

I had read about this museum from my search on internet and I did not know what to expect. I was surprised and amazed over the quality of the museum. The structured layout and the wealth of information that this museum delivers are well worth a visit, even if you are not into trains, this should be on your bucket list. After you gone through the exhibition you will have a much better understanding 'of how it all started' as well as the impact the trains has had on the world we are now living in.I can definitely recommend this attraction!

In an old Roundhouse you find the Swedisch RR Museum. Starting from the history, till the 1960 you find loco's, coaches and descriptions of the the history. An intresting 2 hours short break for those who like tains.

This museum has old railroad cars and engines on show, very interesting. Also there is a miniature railiroad show worth seeing.

Was in Sweden through work and had some time spare. As this was a transportation thing we thought we'd nip in to the rail museum. Massive engineering a must for fans of steam

This is a great way to spend a day out. Even if you are not in to trains there is things do for everybody. Apart from the Swedish railway history (with support from English and German train makers) there is other things to see and do. They have now a exhibition around the Swedish road development. It is worth a trip by car but it is possible to walk (along the railway line of course) from the Railway station. The dining facilities could be better.

You don't need to be a train enthusiast to enjoy this museum. A clean uncluttered layout which flows. interesting exhibits giving an insight into Swedish transport history make for an enjoyable experience. Nice staff, a pleasant cafe and book shop coupled with the spaciousness means a relaxing time, in contrast to many European museum visits.
