I have been several times to Vemdalsskalet, and each year we go there is more upgrades to the resort, it does appear who ever is managing the resort has big plans. This year it was a new 6 person chair lift with cover, and also a new restaurant / ski hire complex. It is not the alps, so don't expect extremely high mountains, but the skiing is still good - a really good range from beginning children to advanced adults. The ski school forms a big part of the facility.Consider that cross-country skiing is very big in Sweden, there are many tracks around the resort - some are flat, some mixed, some to the top of a mountain. Note that getting up hills on cross-country skis is far easier than getting down :)I have also done ice karting, snow mobile hire and dog sledding - you really should try some of these.I have been to the Alps and Pyrenees, and they are great - Vemdalsskalet is very different, but great and really worth going to.

As usually in Skandinavia the location is not the best thing here, but IT's got 3 fast chairs during the last 5 years, so if you've planned to visit GO for it!In my opinion here is one of the best beginner/children lift I've ever seen - 6-back chair with automatic safety bar etc. Great slopes on both sides of the lift and almost no queing!Both the north and southsides of the valley has now Quick chairs, thought the down side is that the MAIN road travels trough the valley deviding the slopes in 2 halfs. There is 2 bridges over road, but some might not like the solution, since the bridges are guite narrow.I didn't mind, but I like to explore the places and the world.Service was good and slopes were WELL maintained. Nice skiing, with SUPERB beginner/children area, but not that much "kill your self"-slopes. When visiting Off piste conditions were limited, long time since the last snopwfall.Forgot to write the review - visited here already 03/2013.

A good and complete ski resort although the best descent missing. Good variety of entertainment, ski trails, ski slopes, restaurants and other service establishments. Vemdalskalet is very snow-secure and the season starts early.

If you are looking for a ski resort for all abilities from a complete beginner through to advance skier Vemdalen is the resort to choose. The quality of the ski school, hire and accommodation combined with the perfectly piste slopes and lack of lift queues makes this a destination to choose for your next ski holiday. Accommodation, slopes and food shop all within walking distance.e

I went for the cross-country skiing in preparation for one of the Vasa loppets. There are 4 tracks based at Vendalsskalet (2.5, 5, 7.5 and 10km) with excellent up and downhill (and some tight turns!) but you can also extend out to other parts of the area along prepared tracks (6 - 8 km) so you would never be bored. Single track for classic and wide enough for skating. Reasonably well marked. Was able to put name down for free cross-country ski lesson plus also a demonstration on waxing skis. No charge for x-country skiing.Downhill and snowboarding appeared to be fantastic with 5 pull/chair lifts within 200 metres of the centre (and the hotels and most lodges). Some of the runs were floodlit. Excellent ski-shop for hiring all equipment (like a production system - just worth looking at the racks of skis and boots - incredibly well organised. Very friendly and helpful.For the people staying in lodges you could bring your own food for lunch in "warm rooms" where there were microwaves. There was also an outdoor bar-b-cue- help yourself!! Plus a burger restaurant (Sibylla). And large supermarket (CIA) =- all within yards of each other

During the winter the ski resort always are very busy, but it is nice during the summer too. There are plenty of things to do specially in July. You can go on nice walks, you can fish, golf and go to auktions.

I bland Sveriges alla skidorter är det hör det som jag kan tycka lämpar sig bäst för barnfamiljer, åkningen är fullt tillräcklig för den moderate åkaren och det finns tillräckligt med barnvänliga backar för att utveckla de yngsta, Valle ( ski stars motsvarighet till Bamseklubben ) är naturligtvis ett plus för många små.Jag kan kanske sakna det där utelivet som andra orter erbjuder och en del restauranger har som vanligt visat sig ha undermålig servicemindeness

Ett mindre skidområde som passar väldigt bra för barnfamiljen. Ett jättebra barnområde i direkt anslutning till hotellet och flera olika typer av lägenheter. Det finns också bra, långa och ganska branta pister för den som vill ha det. Bor man på den sidan av vägen där hotellet ligger så är man helt rätt. Det finns också stugor och lägenheter på andra sidan vägen, en del nära nedfarter, men det är närmare till allt på hotellsidan. Välsorterad affär t.ex.

Fantastisk skiløb for de øvede, knapt så meget for børn, så børnefamilier bør nok tænke i andre baner, men er de gode på ski og vil løbe på pister og ikke i skov og lign. så kan dette sted anbefales

Skalet är alltid "på" när det gäller att ha bra slalombackar och bra längdspår. Det behövs inte mycket snö för att det ska vara åkbart i Skalet. Backarna håller förhållandevis bra status för att ligga så nära kusten. Slalombackarna var vid denna tidpunkt i bra skick.
