We visited this open air museum whilst visiting Lublin for a City Break. The museum is 10 mins by taxi from the city centre and costs just £2.50 to enter. It was unfortunate that no English speaking guide was available to give us a tour, but information in English is placed outside most of the properties. We met a wonderful lady there called Bognor who was in the barber shop and spoke excellent english. She went out of her way to explain as much as she could about Polish life and what the museum represents. Even arranging for one of her colleagues to open up the Manor House for us. We were so pleased to meet Bognor and she certainly contributed to an enjoyable and informative visit. Lots of buildings to see - but it tends to get a bit samey after seeing the fifth Farmstead. Good value for money and worth the effort to get there - would only recommend on a dry day.

In Lublin we can find an Open Air musuem where we can keeping in touch with the life of Polish farmers. It is important visit the museum with a guide who can explain better every home and the object ibsude.Here there are a lot of little home; that hosted a lot of people and the health condition were nit good, as these huts had one rooms that became a kitchen during the day and a bedroom at night.You need to book a visit and it is better with a guide; I visited this museum whit my school and my guide was polite, helpful and she can speak english very well, and it is strange find someone who can speak english in Poland.I like the mill but I find a little bit boring th visit because the huts are all similar.In the museum there is a souvenirs shop but doesn't sell anything interesting.I recommende to visit only if you don't know to do; there are a lot of better things to visit in Lublin, don't spend yours time uselessly.

I took a taxi from the old town and it costs 22 zloty, took about 15 minutes. You can call for a taxi to pick you up (they take only 5-10 minutes to come when you call them). The museum is worth a visit, it has different closing times over the year (until 6pm in the summer till end-Sept), but don't go too close to closing time as they start to lock up the houses a bit earlier. It really is a magical place and makes us realise how much material wealth we have compared to just 100 years ago.

Really happy I got to take a tour of this place. Very charming place. It's really nice to walk around the whole place, especially as a couple. My first Polish 'village' experience and I don't think it could get any better. Must visit.

My every visit to Lublin cannot be complete without spending some time in my favorite cultural place. I can easily imagine the village life a century ago as soon as I enter the gates of that museum. And what's important every time of my visit there is something new to see. I enjoy especially the summer concerts and open market, where I always buy honey, polish sausage, or fresh bread, that taste like no other. It is a place for a romantic date in a carriage riding all around the museum. You can come with your kids for a history lesson. You will enjoy yourself even when you come alone. The museum is at the outskirts of the city but by one of the main highways and has an easy access. There is a botanical garden near by as well worth to visit.

Lovely place quiet/tranquil, well laid out, beautiful gardens. Beware of the goats near the windmill they tried to steal my lunch hahaha

I was hoping to tour places of importance to Polish culture to grasp the traditions of the country.When planning for our trip, I came across the Lublin Village Museum and arranged in advance for an English speaking guide. Both the museum and our guide far surpassed all expectations.The museum is simply enormous, spread across acres of land. Buildings from across Poland have been taken apart and then re-assembled on the site which is continuing to expand. The scenes recreate rural life during the 2nd Republic (1918 to 1939). As this life had not changed, you have an opportunity to look back an enormous span of years and see how people in villages lived.I really do suggest a guide hired from the museum. The small expense and advance planning make such a difference. Keys appear, doors and gates are unlocked, and suddenly you are inside parts of exhibitions not on the normal path, with marvelous details of daily life. The press for grinding rape seeds into oil is one of those things you won't believe until you see it.Our guide was simply splendid, well educated, most inquisitive of our histories and appreciative of our efforts toward understanding Polish culture. There is a real sense of luxury in finding a museum this well laid out on so grand a scale. The guide's normal walking tour is 2 hours, which does not include all of the buildings. I suggest you set aside 2.5 hours for this visit to give time to check in and depart without hurry. It is a lot of walking (which you can do at your own pace). We love walking so this was right for us in every respect. You won't find many tourists from other countries there. Locals often bring picnics for lunch. Not a bad idea, but lunch in Lublin city centre is not far away with lots of reasonable places to eat.Simply not to be missed in you are visiting Lublin for a day trip or longer and have the time.

The castles and palaces are grand, and war memorials are dutifully horrific, but this museum shows what daily life was really like for the past several hundred years all over small towns and farms in rural Poland. Beautifully set in a natural environment of over 65 acres (27 hectares), you can walk through ancient furnished homes, rustic churches, schools and businesses (think blacksmith, weaver, pottery barn and yes, even a windmill for grinding grain). Most buildings are authentic and beautifully maintained. They have been brought here from various parts of Poland and are accessible to visitors. MUST USE A GUIDE for a couple of hours to get the most out of this experience- and if possible book the guide a day in advance to make sure there is one who speaks your language. There is only one small restaurant so consider bringing a picnic lunch. Best to see this when the weather is nice because a lot of walking outside on uneven surfaces is involved. Situated outside of Lublin in a suburb of Slawinek /Skansen and available by bus or taxi.

Skansen Rural park is a bus ride out of Lublin (No18 stops outside). Only 6.50 pln for over 60s (about £1.40p). Allow 2 hours. Take comfortable shoes as you walk about 3 miles, on tough ground. Original farmsteads, cottages, stables, barns ,and windmills can all be visited., complete with farm animals. Great day out.

I have seen a few open-air museum describing "life in the old days", including Skansen in Stockholm, and I have to say that Lublin has one of the largest and most interesting in whole Europe. Plus, it's underrated so there is not many tourists, even in summer, so you can really feel the atmosphere.
