Rodin's villa at Meudon has a much more personal, less-museum-y feel than the famous museum in Paris. Although only the downstairs of the home is open to the public, the recreation of his dining room and a sitting area is charming. It's particularly great to visit on a sunny day when you can really get a feel for the light and airiness that must have captivated the great sculptor. The collection of plasters are beautiful and give a fascinating insight into Rodin's creative process.Be advised that a fair amount of walking is involved if you take public transport. There really isn't a very close drop-off to the museum and a bus ride of some sort is required to get you as close as possible. The rail stops are: Tram 2, Les Moulineaux station + bus 123 (which is right in front of the Tram station) , RER C, station Issy + bus 190 (which is up the stairs on blvd Rodin), or Métro 12, station Mairie d'Issy + bus 190 (I think you may have other bus options there, but 190 gets you as close as possible.) Also, there is a steep hill at Chemin Vert. You'll be let off at the top from bus 190, but bus 123 will let you off at the bottom so you'll need to climb up to the neighborhood of the villa. Do have your phone mapping on or a map of Meudon as a Paris map will not cover this area.

An interesting visit and a good display of the plasters by Rodin. Not as beautiful as the Paris museum but a good complement to that visit.

After the exhilaration of visiting the Museum in Paris,i was panting to see where the great man spent his creative times. This is a must-pilgrimage for amateurs and professionals alike. located at the heights of Meudon, the Villa des Brillants,is a pretty Louis XIII -style house in brick stone where he pursued his career even though he still made the trip to his Parisian studios ,daily Here at Meudon, is where you see his essential creative forces in play. The effect of the halls filled with with natural light, highlight the dazzling white sculptures, as they gaze at you behind glass doors like creatures in an aquarium..... is an impression, that is so powerful....i will never forget. See what you think? This is a peaceful place to spend many hours. Dont rush it.

Every body knows the famous sculptor Rodin. A lot of visitors knows the "hotel Biron" Rodin museum in Paris. But how many have seen its house, garden and museum in Meudon (near Paris)? Unfortunately very few people go there because it is out of Paris although the way to go is easy because public transportation can bring you there in 45mn (. The place is on the heights of Meudon in a green park that dominates Paris city. In addition to the visit of his private home (villa des Brillants) and a tour around his tomb which is under the protection of "the thinker", what is really unique in this museum is the amazing collection of plasters. Hundreds of plaster pieces are shown there which allow to follow-up the trials of Rodin for his well known works as well as his proposals for works that were not retained in his time. Numerous faces and attitudes in front of which you can't stay impervious to the strength. A discrete but powerful feeling hidden in Paris quiet suburb.

It was fun to see Rodin's home, studio and grounds. The grounds are very nice. It is a little out of the way.
