We stopped over Tende (pronounced as Ton) via Train des Merveilles. The tourist information centre was not far from the train station. The lady gave us a map and pointed the routes for a half day trip. You may need to bring extra clothing if you come from the warm seaside of Cote d'Azur. Flat shoes are recommended.We first walked up to the ruins of the castle and cemetery via Rue Capitaine Auber. As the guide described, we could only hear the noise of birds singing but nothing else. At the clock tower, there was a good view over the snow-capped Alps and slated roofs. When we visited, the path was diverted to an alleyway behind others' houses as there was roadwork along Rue Capitaine Auber.We then spent a short while in the village centre for lunch. Then we walked along Rue de France toward the Collegiate Church Our Lady of the Assumption - nice little church, Along Rue cotta, you can also find the 2 local chapels.We did not have time to go to the Eagle path. Apparently you can get a good view of Tende and walk along flowers and pine. Neither did we visit the Chapel St Sauveur (2h each way) which involves walking through a rope bridge at an altitude of 1100m....In general, it is a down-to-earth medieval village with beautiful views of snow-capped Alps even in summer. The old town is enjoyable with friendly locals. Tende reminded us of Switzerland and Italy more than France. It is certainly a good day trip away from touristy Cote d'Azur!

Tende è il primo paese della Francia che s'incontra una volta superato l'omonimo traforo da Limone Piemonte. Il centro abitato è arroccato sulla montagna ed è piacevole da visitare, pur se non presenta elementi di spicco.

Поезд еле полз два часа. Однако это дало возможность любоваться прекрасными видами и наслаждаться творениями рук человеческих, а именно прекрасно вписанной в ландшафт горной дорогой. Стоимость билета туда-обратно 15 евро. К сожалению 40 минут маловато для этого городка, а 4 часа до следующего поезда в Ниццу многовато! Неторопливый осмотр города занял чуть больше часа, больше в городке делать нечего. Можно походить по лесным тропам, но мы были не готовы к горным путешествиям. К сожалению, осмотреть другие городки на этом маршруте нам не удалось из-за редкого транспортного сообщения на этом отрезке. Если продумать маршрут на рейсовых автобусах Cote de Azur то можно успеть посетить еще пару городков по маршруту

Joli village avec ses ruelles d'un autre temps.Accueil très calin de la part des différents chats rencontrés au détours des ruelles.Superbes vues sur la vallée et ses environs.

Un excellent témoignage de l'histoire de cette région "franco-italienne".Village surprenant par son site et son architecture (maisons serrées à flanc de montagne) : on est loin des villages provençaux très colorés. Seuls se détachent églises et campaniles dont les couleurs et le style annoncent l'Italie voisine

Borgo arroccato su un fianco della montagna, dall'aspetto molto particolare: sarà per i tetti grigi, per l'acciottolato delle pavimentazioni, le stradine ripide, le scritte in italiano scolorite ma ancora presenti. Un paese di frontiera da visitare sicuramente.

village escarpé à flan de coteau, magnifique, avec une vue époustouflante, il faut de bonnes chaussures et ne pas avoir peur de grimper, mais ça en vaut vraiment la peine ! très belles demeures, surprenante église aux plafonds d'un bleu franc profond. on se laisse bercer par la quiétude des ruelles baignées de soleil... que du bonheur pour déconnecter de la vie active !

У меня было минут 40 между поездами Train des Merveilles "туда" и "обратно". Поэтому местечко осмотрел бегло и понял, что сюда надо приезжать хотя бы на день. По приезду советую сразу пройти в Информационный центр (практически у вокзала) и взять хотя бы карту. Стоит посетить, если хотите увидеть "классическое" представление о городках в горной местности - узкие улочки, уходящие вверх и вниз по склонам, окна с цветами, крыши домов на уровне дорожки, на которой бы ты не оказался... Тихо... Шум воды...Виадук... Горы... Мило... Восторг!
