Didn't expect this to be so informative or credible but lots for all the family to look at and hear. Some of the staff tried hard to converse with Les Anglais but not always effective. (Our responsibility to understand them of course!) If you have translation, I would imagine that this is such a good place to go. We didn't gain all the benefit because we didn't understand it all. But my wife as a primary school teacher thought the whole place was an excellent resource which, if it were in England, she'd be taking every class to every year.A lot of authentic exhibits and the living/walking/talking/breathing demonstrators were esp helpful.Weather was basically dry when we were there but not warm.

Even the rainy weather could not dampen our spirits on a recent day trip to Samara. Not even our limited French could stop us enjoying this fascinating look back in time. This is a well thought out attraction which plays upon the real treasures found in the area harking back to prehistoric times. The very best bits for us were the reconstructed houses. Set up to mirror the way of life of various communities, Neolithic, Bronze Age, Iron Age, it was marvellous to see the effort they have gone to to re-create the lifestyle. There were people 'occupying' some of the houses; blacksmith, mould maker, coin maker etc and they demonstrated ancient skills and explained how people would have lived. All in French but with plenty of visual aids. Lots for children to join in with and all the families we saw were having a great time despite the rain. The only slight disappointment was that on this visit the demonstrators were not wearing traditional dress but were clad in jeans and t-shirts. From posters displayed we could see that there were days when this was not the case and when they wore more traditional garb. Well served with toilets, seats, stopping points, good balance of indoor and outdoor activities and a good little restaurant on site. As we were leaving they even gave us a postcard to write and send to someone which would give the recipient a free adult ticket on a future visit. All in all a thoroughly great day out and all for just 9 euros per adult. We were also impressed to see they were still building and adding to the site for future visits.

Under better weather, I'd probably have enjoyed it even more. With some rain, we enjoyed walks and information boards along the marais (marsh) and the pre-history museum. The latter tells an interestingly different story of pre-history, managing to mention one single non-French scientist (a Mr. Charles Darwin), and still articulating complex points in interesting and simple approaches. Stone tool reproductions are there for touching, and almost as sharp as to get yourself cut. Then we chose to forfeit the iron age village reproduction, likely as entertaining and interesting.The herb maze looks derelict, with lots of bushes and herbs, very few labels. Would go there again, especially with better weather - or with children to take along.

Really worthwhile visiting samara, great layout, suited for taking kids on a long walk through lovely grounds, a herb maze, rope climbing frame, large museum, iron age village with workshops and demonstrations. Lots of areas to picnic and quirky gifts in shop and ice creams. Lovely in all weathers, plenty of parking, popular with locals, been going back every year an not seen any other brits there!

We always go here, a huge site with walks and trails well planned out. There is an iron age village with demonstrations of weapon making, weaving and the like. It's got a large rope climbing frame and a gret museum with displays in an amazing building. Best to take a picnic and enjoy the quiet of the place on one of the many benches. Nice herb maze, balance beams tipping stones and the like. Plenty of parking and quite near Amiens. Best not to go if it's pouring down though

Had a wonderful quick tour of this interesting site...but there is no public transportation to get there...we took the bus there and had to hitch hike (auto stop in french) there, and back to the nearest village with a train to Amiens...But we did get rides with lovely people who went out of their way to help us....Vive la France!

I went to Samara park with my family as we were driving through the area. We didn't spend as long there as we could have but it was definitely worth the detour. It was very educational and the setting was pretty. There were lots of groups of school children who were being given talks as they went round and it looked like a great educational experience for them. For some reason, there was a cheaper tarif when we went and we paid less than 6 euros each to get in.

i spent the better part of a day wandering round this wonderful space, it is, basically, a series of buildings recreated from different points in the history of the region, giving you an experience of domestic and work architecture for over a thousand years. There are artisan spaces where you might find someone plying an ancient craft, fascinating and well worth a visit

Just to the west of Amiens is the Parc Samara prehistoric village and gardens - with people enacting neolithic trades, reconstructed houses, and lots of wild and medicinal gardens to walk through. And at some times of the year they have a tethered balloon (not August).It is well worth going to, especially with children. You will need your own transport, and to speak some french (no english spoken).

Leuke leerzame attractie in een mooi gebied. Wel beter te doen bij mooi weer. (buiten locatie) prachtig nagemaakte gebouwen en vooral voor kinderen zijn de demonstraties erg leuk. Goed toegankelijk voor mindervalide met een rolstoel. Je kunt er best een halve dag doorbrengen maar een hele dag is wat veel.
