Visited the museum after first going to the small fortress. Artifacts of life in the Ghetto are well portrayed and preserved. Very interesting information about ghetto artists and how inhabitants used theatre and arts to escape the cruelty of the war and ghetto.

I did like the experience of visiting this place,it is not as big as I thought it would be but the way it is set up is interesting and the dormitory area of the women was very interesting.

Magdeburg barracks are very well maintained. Exhibition of artists are divided in sections. Ladies who are working there will play sample of Brundibar opera by Hans Krasa created for Terezin children. It was so moving..

The guides do an amazing job describing the conditions and history of the camp. To observe the conditions under which so many suffered is absolutely horrific. But it must be preserved and visited.

Saw All the Sites of Terezin. The Magdeburg Ex Army Barracks. Found the Most Interesting. Art, which Flourished in The Dark Times at the Ghetto. Music, Composers, Paval Haas, & Gideon Klein. The Opera, " Flasinetar Brundibar ". Cartoonist, Bedrich Fritta. The Drawing of Peter Ginz. All Very Good. The Jewish Prayer Room & The Attic. Round the Corner. Are a Must See Too. So Much to Take in. You Need a Full Day. You Can Make Your Own Way by Bus. But to get a lot from it. I Payed for a Private Tour. Used Praga Caput Regni. Very Knowledgeable. Done at a Relaxed Pace. Would Recommend. Terezin is Somewhere Everybody Should Visit. To Educate, and Make Sure this Never Happens Again. May All Those Who Perished. Rest in Peace.

The Magdburg barracks houses a museum dedicated to the cultural life that thrived in the ghetto.144,000 Jews were sent to Theresienstadt-88,000 of those were were deported to Auschwitz and other extermination camps. Despite the appalling living conditions( viewers can see a reconstruction of the the attic living quarters were thousands of Jews were forced to live) and the disease , hunger , terror and constant deportations to the " east", it is remarkable that the Nazis could not crush the human spirit. The arts flourished in this ghetto.Operas and plays were performed , music was written, and artists painted and sketched , recording both the horrors of the ghetto and the inherent beauty of the world which ghetto walls could not taint. Almost all of the artists, musicians ,writers , actors etc who are mentioned in the museum were murdered by the Nazis. A visit to this museum elicits many emotions- from wonder that under such circumstances art was still possible, to anger that these people were subjected to such radical hatred which did not see them as human beings but as objects to be slaughtered, to a profound feeling of sorrow and loss- if this is the work these artists created in Terezin, what more could they have given the world if they hadn't been murdered ? Plan on spending at least and hour or two in the museum .

This museum is an amazing reminder of what Jewish people had to struggle through. Please take time to read all the little notes that have been left behind and look at the art work from the children.

This museum, in a former barracks, details what life was like for the people imprisoned in Terezin. It has examples of the vibrant cultural life that flourished in Terezin, which included literature, music and drama. The pictures drawn by children are particularly heartbreaking, even the happy ones, as we know that most of them did not survive.

Very interesting and unexpected to learn about the Arts that managed to exist, despite the horrible conditions in Terezin. The barracks had a number of displays dedicated to the talented residents of Terezin, and also of the arts of the children that lived there, and those that instructed them. This building was included in our combo ticket purchased at the Fortress, as well as the Ghetto Museum, a five minute walk away. From the Fortress, I would allow 10-15 minutes to get to the Ghetto Museum, and then another 5 minutes to the Barracks. From there, you can continue on to the Crematorium. We did not encounter ANY options other than walking, so be sure all in your group are capable, or consider a private tour with transportation between sites.

One of the museums of Terezin town. About 65 km from Prague by bus from Nadrazi Holesovice (cheap option) or tour bus (overpriced tour) or by car via motorway about 1 hr drive without traffic. I recommend this trip as one full day trip, it is very educational and emotional.
