This was even surprisingly good museum, not only about Hussites, but also about general history of central Europe and religious affairs after the Middle Ages. Video shown at start of the tour is worth watching for illumination on the background of the events at the focus of the museum. All the materials, old and new, decorations and written information - and there's plenty of it, which is superb - is exceptionally to the point, and serves to enlighten the visitor about important threads of history.

The museum is on the main square of Tabor, you can't miss it. I entered the museum on my own and I was basically the only visitor at that moment. The lady at the desk kindly offered my the English version of the tour on an audio guide (they have it in multiple languages) and started a 10-minute movie that had English subtitles about the situation of medieval Bohemia. Every major object had a number glued next to it and by pressing that number in the audio guide, you had the English version of the story. As I was on my own and not in a hurry, I pressed all buttons. The result is that I have now a much clearer idea of Czech history and the hussite wars always come back in every story about Czech history. After around 2 hours I finshed the complete tour of the museum.I recommend this museum to everybody who would like to know more about Czech history. The CZK 60 entrance fee is definitely worth it.

Dioramas and replica weapons. A history of the wars causes and its end. I would have liked more detail on the wars orders of battle. But my wife thought it was quite detailed enough for someone who hadn't heard of the hassite wars.

An audio guide comes in with admission price and I would really recommend this as English explanation is limited. The museum does assume a bit of prior knowledge about European medieval religious history- a visitor from the Far East might struggle. However we spent two hours there and it gave a real flavour of the history. There are also cartoon explanations for children.

We went to this museum hoping to find traces of my family who came from Tabor in the 19th century. It was such a fascinating experience learning about Hus and the whole Hussite movement -- a Protestant movement the preceded the reformation by over a century! I learned so much. The only suggestion for improvement is to synch the audio more closely with the flow of the exhibits but still well worth a visit for anyone who is Tabor.

This museum is very good ! Tabor is one of the most beautiful cities in Czech republic. There's lots to see in Tabor. You can find there Zoological Garden, Botanical Garden, beautiful dam called Jordán, river Lužnice, Tower House Kotnov, Medieval fortification, Beautiful Squares and Churches...There is also a lot of shops there. Tábor is also my home town. It is not a big town but also not small. I could recommend you to visit this beautiful town and nice museum.

We were very pleasantly surprised at how good this museum is. We stopped in Tabor out of curiosity about the Hussite movement and found a wealth of information presented in an excellent museum on the town square. While the professionally-done exhibits largely have only Czech texts, the audioguide is a satisfactory alternative. We spent a couple hours and could have used at least another hour. Recommended!

The museum is informative and fascinating but the main joy for me was the building itself. I loved the architecture and old stone interior and its authentic state of preservation. Worth a visit when you are in Tabor.

It's a really nice museum about the hussites, English comments everywhere, even subtitles at the starting movie.

My wife and I visited this museum and town, mainly due to my interest in the history of the location... The museum staff were very friendly and accomodating, but English-language materials are limited--although there is an audiophone device available, included with the museum price. The exhibits inside are extremely well presented, and cover much more of the Hussite period than I expected. The reconstructed full-size pieces (cannon, war wagon, etc.) were also impressive for the care and detail in construction. The bookstore had several museum-produced books that covered many aspects of the history I hadn't known about. Also, if you're looking for a re-constructed 17th-century old town, away from the hordes of tourists, this may be it! We had the assistance of a private tourguide and car, so to do this over, we'd have to research the travel and lodging parts, but we would go back in a heartbeat, just to walk around. If you want to do this the way we did, contact the Czech tourist agency (C'edok). By car from Prague, the center of town was a bit over an hour one-way.
