You will learn about life of one of our best composers and his life. The house looks as if the composer just left for a while. The guide was well informed and answered our questions eagerly.

This was Janacek's holiday retreat and where he died. For anyone who loves his music, it is an essential trip, giving a sense of the countryside which he loved and the sounds that he wove into his scores. It preserves his working space and bedroom and gives a real insight into his methods and his interests. There are a number of exhibits, but most are labelled only in Czech; no doubt Janacek would have approved, but the non-Czech speaker can still get some benefit from them. What really matters is the atmosphere, and that transcends language. The curator is very helpful and there are CDs, books and scores on sale as well as postcards.

The exposition can be divided into a historical section (three rooms on the ground floor), where the original interior including.We can find there photographs from Janáček´s life, letters, notes, costume drafts for the opera.

The museum itself is not that big, but very cute. The guide in the museum knows really a lot about the live and music of Leos Janacek. You can connect the visit of the museum with a visit of the caste which is on the top of the hill in Hukvaldy (app. 3km walk). You should also visit the local info center, which is placed in building which used to be a school where Leos Janacek´s father used to teach. Take the walk through the village - from the museum, through the zoo park up until the castle. It will help you to understand where Janacek took his inspiration from.

Le musée se trouve dans la maison où Leos Janacek a habité. On peut y trouver toutes les informations concernant sa vie et son œuvre. Il s'agit d'un musée très sympathique qui grâce à ses exposition nous emmène à l'époque pendant laquelle Janacek a profité de la nature très présente à Hukvaldy pour créer ses œuvres.
