This is the worlds largest maelstrom supposedly and it us quite dramatic. But to get it at its best it needs to be visited near the turn of the tide. Some distance from Bodo so transport is required

It's difficult to explain, you have to go there by yourself. Walking over the bridge, looking down into the maelstrom. Buying local food on kafe Kjelen or at Saltstraumen hotel. A peaceful and spectacular place close to Bodø airport.

Impressive nature. Even in the winter times a real spectacular view. But the ways there have not been plowed, so it was really slippery down to the sea.

It was an amazing place, whirlpools within whirlpools. We saw people fishing but we didn't have our rods at that time so wasn't able to try our luck. We walked along the path and saw the most interesting natural phenomenon. Definitely must see.

There has been lots of world records here in diving and of course fishing. You could be 100% sure to catch fish in all sizes and sorts here, both from land and boat. Beautiful surrounding nature and mountaintops.

22 knots when the tide is changing. Spotted a PADI dive center on the top of a nearby hill but it is not a place I would choose to dive - too cold and the currents too fast.

Worlds 5 greatest dive site at the world strongest malstøm. Great fishing. Nice surroundings and nature. The best that north of Norway have to offer.

Check the tide timetables before going. Also, to see spectacular large photos of the underwater life, drop into the visitor center right by the parking lot under the bridge.

Spectacular, nature phenomenon, app. 1 hours drive from Bodø. Museum restaurant and beautifull old church near by

I love it. Nature at its prettiest is something northern Norway guarantees, and this is one of its highlights .
