We had an absolutely fabulous time visiting this detailed old time village. Everything is real, the buildings and the traditional trades presented with real trade tools from back in the day. Such a surprise and a great place to go when the sea is too rough for swimming!

I've been to this nice cave in the middle of the fields and the ambience is very nice it takes you to the old times. And there's even animals at the place which you can see. I think its a place worth viewing.

Do contact someone from the association to request a guided tour. There were incredible and authentic crafts represented: pasta making, wine, olive oil, dress making, barber, stone cutters, barrel making, wood working, livestock. It was an amazing and unforgettable visit. I can't imagine what it is like during the 'Living Nativity', but the crowds of thousands might deter me. There are web sites where you can get further information.

Visiting this place is surely well worth it. The road is easy with plenty of signs along the route. It offers an insight on how people lived in the early 20th century. Scenery is beautiful all around and the place is really calm and tranquil. Coming from the Island of Malta, it is very obvious to me the similarity between the buildings here and those we find in our oldest villages in Malta, some even sharing the same colour scheme. Really it is a voyage back in time. A stop here is to be planned on route to other destinations and an hour or so would be enough.

Conosciuta come grotta Scurati, dal nome del vicino borgo e diventata "Mangiapane" dal nome della famiglia che la possedeva. Fa parte del gruppo del monte Cofano, per buona parte costituito da dolomia. Fu abitata dagli umani nel pleistocene ( mesozoico, da 1, 8 milioni a 11.000 anni fa), periodo paleolitico superiore. In tempi recenti fu abitata per circa 50 anni dal 1819; è un complesso di vecchie abitazioni nelle quali sono conservati oggetti e attrezzi che rendono ben immaginabile le abitudini e i modi di vita di allora. Un signore si occupa di far visitare la grotta, spiegandone le origini (facendo confusione sulle ere geologiche e creandone di nuove, ma con molta simpatia e forza di coinvolgimento) Si parla anche di graffiti ma l'unico che mi è stato indicato e che raffigura una figura umanoide sulla volta della grotta più interna penso che risalga...a tre o quattro anni fa.. L'ingresso è libero (salvo quando si commemora l'imperdibile presepe vivente) e viene richiesto - ma non imposto - garbatamente un piccolissimo contributo che è confortato oltre che dal garbo dell'improvvisato cicerone, da un buon bicchiere di passito!La strada di accesso è un po'...."sgarrupata" ma ci si arriva agevolmente ed è servita da un ampio parcheggio.Per chi ama la fotografia, c'è di che sbizzarrirsi.

Un meraviglioso posto dopo si respira aria sana.Il presepe assolutamente da vedere, vivere momenti d'altri tempi, tutto fatto bene e curato nei dettagli.Complimenti a tutti

Ci siamo andati per natale a vedere il presepe vivente. Ottimi scenari, ottime rappresentanze.Da andarci vestiti con un bel cappotto pesante per il freddo e scarpe comode visto che ci sono spazi all'aperto con terra e zone con pavimento un pò scivoloso.
