my gf and I arrived by car and parked in the free car park at the beginning of the beach. after a short walk we were in front of the island. we spent some time walking on the rocks. you are at the southernmost point in Italy and a plaque on the stone reminds you of the end of Italian trek, running from Trieste to the Isola delle correnti.

great stretch of sandy beach but can be very windy hence the name. Just outside the town of Portopalo and if you feel energetic you can walk there. It is a fair walk.

We shared the entire beach with two other families. The water was great for late october and we spent half the day lounging and enjoying the scenery. I wish I would have remembered to bring goggles. Saw some scuba divers out around the island. No services in the off season. Practically a ghost town.

Drove here just to try another beach and we wanted to see the southern tip of Sicily as we were so close.Great day out. Its a public beach, so its free, the water was clean and warm, and the sand was light yellow and soft. There was a bar/restaurant which we didn't go to, but it seemed possible to hire beach chairs and umbrellas.The island itself which you can walk to at low tide or swim too at high tide, houses a disused light house.Because of the islands structure, its worthwhile taking a snorkel around it, many little grotos and rock shelves for fish to live in!

Questa isola da terra sembra una roccaforte sul mare e sembra una striscia sottile che si allunga nello ionio pur essendo quasi un cerchio perfetto

Sono arrivato in questo lontano lembo di terra italiano per respirare, in questo crocevia di rotte marittime dei fenici, degli arabi, dei romani.... la storia. Non cercate altro. Fermatevi in questo luogo in riva al mare e meditate..... Cercate emozioni. Verranno dal vostro interno, da ricordi ancestrali. Buona visita.

semplicemente l´incontro di acqua, terra, vento, e aria, crea questo angolo di paradiso. Godersi un tramonto di fine estate sulla spiaggia con a lato la piccola isola col suo faro..... un regalo della vita!

Wenn Sie sich in Sizilien aufhalten, müssen Sie unbedingt an das Capo delle Correnti fahren. Das ist der südlichsten Punkt von ganz Italien. Es ist, vor allem bei Sturm, ein einmaliges Naturschauspiel; da treffen zwei Meere aufeinander. Das Ionische Meer und das Mediterrane Meer prallen aufeinander. Wellen rollen von Osten und Wellen rollen von Südwesten auf die kleine Halbinsel. Die kleine Insel könnte man bei ganz ruhigem Meer zu Fuss über Felsbrocken erreichen. Das gibt aber in jedem Fall nasse Füsse. Das Capo Correnti ist mit dem Auto durch riesige Gemüseplantagen hindurch zu erreichen. Mit dem Fahrrad sollte man ein Navigationsgerät haben, sonst findet man das Ziel nur schwerlich. Ausserhalb der Sommersaison gibt es am Capo delle Correnti sonst NICHTS ausser einem Parkplatz. Campieren wäre in dieser Zeit gratis möglich. Das nächste Dorf ist Pachino.
