The beautiful, empty pistes of last year's Pila were full of children and teenagers; bad timing. In January they were very sparsely populated. But the longest queue at Chamole still took only about 30 minutes. If you don't know Pila and you seek raving nightlife, you will be disappointed, but for those who just want to ski and have a glass or two before retiring to bed it is very good.

I really like to go to Pila and Sky, you will spend a very nice time there. The sky area is very huge, a lot of track are exposed to the sun.The food in the many refugee is very very good, you cannot miss the Crepe alla Valdostana. It is very easy to arrive from Aosta, and the big parking area is just two minutes far from the highway exit.

Positives:-Mainly red runs which is good if you're a competent intermediate-Well groomed pistes-Lift queues are minimal during weekdaysNegatives:-No gondolas or bubbles once you are at skiing level: Lifts are almost all chairs and so you can get very cold towards the top. Also, no drag lifts (which some may of course appreciate!)-The skiing area is relatively small: This isn't a problem providing most of the runs are open and most of the lifts are working -However, since there were downhill races on several runs each day whilst we were there, this had quite an impact by reducing the overall number of pistes available -making the lift pass of 202 Euros seem quite expensive

Just returned from a week skiing in Pila. Had a fantastic time but was just let down by the fact that for a small resort only 29 runs there were too many competitions going on which closed off ski runs. Tuesday Wednesday Friday and Saturday all had ski competitions two of those days it affected 4 ski runs!! Find it hard to believe you still charge 202 euros for 6 days knowing that some of your runs are closed. Apart from that though it's a lovely place to ski and I would recommend it to beginner/ intermediates.

This was our first family visit to the Italian Alps for a skiing holiday after spending most of our skiing holidays in France. The ticketing office is very fast and efficient. The lifts up to the ski fields likewise are fast and efficient. Unfortunately we arrived during the midterm break and were surprised to count 21 bus loads of english kids, who were for the most part well behaved. It was also the Carnivale in Italy and the Northern France Mid term break. And as it happens many of them were in Pila for a skiing holiday. Despite all these people it is a very large resort and it is relatively easy to find runs with few skiers. I suggest you keep off the blue runs when its holiday season. The majority of runs are red anyway. But if you are up to skiing on Black runs, you'll find some surprising challenging runs on this resort, with very few skiers daring to have a go. We found some spectacular red runs where we were the only skiers. Overall it appeared to us a very well run resort with plenty of places to find food and amenities and instruction if that is what you need. And finally you cannot forget the wonderful Italian culture. We'll be returning soon.

A nice mix of runs - with options for the beginner through to the more experienced skier.Lots of Reds - but only a few Blacks : so if you are experienced and want a challenge you may want to look elsewhere. If you get a six day ski pass - it includes two days in another Aosta Valley Resort (e,g. La Thuille) - This gives a chance to try something different. My only criticism is that the resort has grown in the past eight years (since we first visited) and the lift capacity has not been increased (so queues are now quite long at peak times).

This is a great resort. Local feel with great views and fantastic skiing. Not for the party goers and acres ski fanatics. The ski hire is of very good quality. The ski lift and chairs are goods. Plenty of paste bars and places to sun lounge. For small non skiers could be better. Unless you throw them into ski school which looked good. Runs are clean challenging for beginners. But not overwhelming. Highly recommended.

i cannot decide which one is the best - Pila, Courmayeur or La Thuile.... Each one has its own charm... Pila is a bit underrated in my opinion.. The good side is that the piste is always nicely done in terms of snow quality... I highly recommend this resort - for a great red tracks and good skiing speed

Loved this resort ,long ,wide runs - mainly red - but a couple of nice long blues and all come back to resort base ( sometimes this causes a bottleneck at certain parts of the day , ) Pretty tree lined runs and the chairlifts to the highest pistes are a photographic opportunity. I think this is a great confidence resort for beginners and new intermediates , I think advanced skiers may be slightly bored ..

Could be better sign posted but great skiing different because of the tree lined runs which when the weather was poor at other locations, this aided visibility
