You can't miss this monument, whichever side of Brindisi you're in.Entrance is free although you'll have to be prepared to climb many steps to get to the top and enjoy the view (the lift only goes about half of the way and it takes about 10 minutes to get to the top by using the stairs). Unfortunately, many of the rooms that display photos and war memorabilia are locked, and the only room that we were able to enter had pictures of U.S warships. If you have at least half an hour to spare and want a good view of Brindisi, consider stopping at this monument. You can then recover from the climb by relaxing at the park at the foot of the monument.

Not the most beautiful monument, made by Mussolini the first half of the last century, but a beautiful location overlooking the port of Brindisi

A tower with a spiral staircase, there are some exhibits of the italian navy on the way up. There is an elevater that can take you pary of the wayThere are some good views of brindisi from the top but not a lot else

Great way to get a bird's eye view of Brindisi and Casale. there are stairs and an elevator to get you to the top of the monument where you can snap some great photos. There are several memorials along the way as you climb the stairs.

We decided to visit Brindisi in the South of Italy and one of the monuments we visited is the MONUMENTO AL MARINAIO...build by Mussolini it overlooks this small town amazing port. You can see as far as Albania and Greece from there. Definetely worth the visit!

A must-go place, it has history and a lovely view of all Brindisi. You can take the best pictures of the city in a sunny day. You need to climb plenty of stairs, though, as there is a lift but only till a certain level.

Ci sono ritornato a Dicembre e l'ho trovato chiuso: peccato. Spero lo riaprano alle visite turistiche, mi è mancato di visitare la cappella.

È uno dei simboli, insieme alla colonna romana, al porto naturale a forma di corna di cervo etc, della nostra meravigliosa brindisi.Fare una passeggiata in primavera,con una bella giornata, ai piedi del monumento ammirando lo splendido porto o addirittura andare in cima allo stesso monumento allunga la vita di dieci anni!!!

Si tratta di un monumento unico alto 54 metri che possibile visitare gratis , fu costruito da mussolini in memoria dei marinai , ha la forma di un timone , in alto c'è incastonata una madonnina , è da dove è possibile ammirare un bellissimo panorama ( tutto il centro della città')

Il grande timone di 54 metri su cui è incastonata la statua marmorea della Vergine è punto di riferimento e simbolo cittadino, posto sulla sponda nord del seno di Ponente. Eretto in epoca fascista nel 1933, si eleva severo, silenzioso, quasi metafisico nel panorama cittadino.La storia della sua costruzione vuole che la raccolta dei fondi per la costruzione durò circa 10 anni e vi partecipò in particolare il tenore Tito Schipa con gli incassi dei concerti.All'interno vi sono alcune sale storiche dove sono visibili oggetti e reperti storici, tra cui l'urna contenente la sabbia di El Alamein, la cappella sacrario in cui sono ricordati i caduti delle guerre mondiali, la campana della corazzata Benedetto Brin affondata nel porto di Brindisi nel 1915. Dal terrazzo, accessibile con un ascensore e qualche scalino, la vista spazia sulla città e sul porto.Purtroppo gli orari non ci sono e bisogna andare un po' a fortuna.Nel piazzale dinnanzi all'ingresso vi sono due ancore e due cannoni di sommergibili provenienti da corazzate austro-ungariche.Da vedere, anche per ammirare il panorama della città !!
