One of the most interesting and surprising guided tours I've ever taken! The caves are simply stunning, and the guide, a most passionate kid whose dedication brought us all over town with joy and enthusiasm.

We enjoyed the slices of history from 7th century to the early 20th century. Our guide did a great job connecting what we could see below and above ground with the subterranean life of old Gravina.

when first we toured we saw amazing depths in the city..however the second time we had an unusually energetic guide. He lled us to many more loer levels that were in various places of the city, telling us of the history and the lore. Such a interesting (and exhusting) trip into the lower levels of Gravina, my fathers birthplace. we were fortunate to get a very special view of the ancient Church in the murge next to the deep creek, seeing the piled sculls of the past piled in a burial room was unexpected. If in Gravina ,it is a must to insist of a full tour, you will be delighted.

This fantastic tour of the underground included huge water cisterns, old wayer wells, granaries and wine stores of the ancient town of Gravina. It deserves to be visited, it is easy to make and quite fascinating.

We had a great time being guided by Francesco on the very reasonably priced 1 hour 20 minute tour. This is not to be missed and adds another dimension to a visit to lovely Gravina.

The tour of the underground of Gravina was very interesting. This is not to be missed and was very informative. We did the one hour tour and I was impressed with the detailed explanations and examples of life in historic Gravina. Francesco was a great guide and clearly very knowledgable on his subject! "Tootsie" was the highlight!

This little tour was an absolute pearl as it gives you a direct insight into the pst conditions of living of the former inhabitants of the region. It was very well explained and the tour seems to be ever-changing, exhibiting some recent new finds of excavated cellars. A good and very informative tour with English-speaking guides, a must-do!

We did the underground visit with our daugher (3.5 years) and it was just perfect for all of us (adult and kid).It is very interesting to see the underground of the city and the guide was very kind. We higly recommend the visit of 1h20 or the 2h, it's worth itGravina in Puglia is a nice small city, easy to visit in a couple of hours

Gravina in Puglia proved to be a fantastic destination. The "sassi", ancient caves that were occupied for over three millenia, dot the the surounding area, rivaling those found in nearby Matera, a Unesco World Heritage Sight. The town of Gravina has become a culinary destination for Italians who find the diet of the South, featuring olive oils, greens, tomatoes and fish to be both healthy and delicious. The freindliness of the town is evidetn from the moment you arrive, condusive to a lovely "passegiata" as the evening settles in and the locales come out. You can "visit" Italy, which is always a great idea, or you can "experience" Italy, a rare and wonderful way to know a country. Gravina in Puglia provides the latter.

We stayed in Gravina and were told about Sotterranea by our hotel staff. Before we left town we took a two hour tour with Antonella and Mariella. These lovely ladies gave us the Gold standard of tours. My wife has a problem with her foot and needs to move a little slower than most. These ladies were incredibly patient with us and I can't thank them enough. If you are lucky enough to visit Gravina the Sotterranea is a must. It was not only an education but a rare treat to go beneaththe city, and surrounding area that we never would have seen if it were not for these fine ladies. A big thank you from Richard and Anita
