And then, at the end, you arrive to a shabby and closed fence, where you can read that only those who pay to the owner can get into the yard in which there is this tree. According to the experts, the Ulivone has been around for about 2700 years, and it is still bearing fruit that makes the much prized Sabina D.O.P. Extra Virgin Olive Oil. To think of the waves of people from different eras and cultures that have harvested olives and made oil from this tree: Sabines, Romans, Lombards, Byzantines, medieval monks, to modern Italians... it is just mind blowing... People are impressed with the great red cedars of Canada's west coast, or the majestic California redwoods, but there is something truly awe inspiring about a living tree that has fed and provided precious olive oil to so many generations. I would recommend combining a visit to L'Ulivone with a tour of nearby Fara In Sabina's Civic Archeological Museum and Farfa Abbey. There is a small fee to have access to the tree.

Amazingly healthy looking huge olive tree said to be 2000 years old. You pay 2.50 to a wizened little man who offers you a plastic cup of decidedly rough wine and olive oil on bread - probably best avoided - especially the wine - but the tree is worth it!

La splendida campagna della Sabina si caratterizza per i meravigliosi riflessi argentei degli ulivi.Tra essi, questo magnifico esemplare è un "gigante" con una circonferenza del tronco di circa 7 metri (misurata ad un metro di altezza); il diametro della chioma è di circa 30 metri, l'altezza circa 15 metri.In passato l'ulivo arrivava a produrre 12 quintali di olive, con una resa di olio di 150 kg.Se passate sulla Salaria dalle parti di Passo Corese, vi consiglio una deviazione fino a Fara Sabina per ammirare questo monumento della natura.

La sabina, anche se il genere non è diffuso, offre uno spettacolo rilassante e romantico. Percorrere ed ammirare gli ulivi è esperienza unica, l'olio prodotto in questi luoghi è di ottima qualità, da consigliare!

Entrata gratuita e maestoso... Se parlasse ne avrebbe di cose da raccontare! Capitata per caso e contenta di esserci andata, mai visto un albero così. Da vedere.

mai visto un olivo cosi!! io ho casa nella zona ed ogni volta che mi vengono a trovare amici li porto sempre a vedere l'ulivone!e' davvero imponente! quante storie si sono consumate li sotto!Io nn ho mai pagato comunque!
