While visiting the war cemetery along the road we decided to visit this site as it was suggested by our lovely Hotel Owner. We were the only ones there and it was amazing, although some conservation work has been done there was so much so see. It was not really geared up for English visitors as much or the information was only in Italian. Well worth a visit though, I hope to go back and this time I will do some research beforehand.

It's not the easiest place to get to if you are not driving - like us - even though it's only 5 kilometeres from Scauri where we were staying. Buses go right past the place but there doesn't appear to be a bus stop there and it's not mentioned on bus timetables, mind you there are not that many buses anyway. Still, it can be done by public transport and a bit of legwork, and it is certainly worth the effort. Tickets cost 5 Euros - but you could probably walk striaght in without paying and no one would notice (I'm not advocating doing this!). Be careful not to miss the museum itself which is located inside the Roman Theatre; it's easy to miss as the entrance is around the back.

Minturno has been much improved as an archaeological park in recent years. Tourists can easily read about the buildings, see reconstruction drawings and plans, and visit the on-site museum. The visit can be done in 1 - 2 hours, depending upon how much time you wish to spend wandering the ruins and reading materials. You can see a wonderfully preserved stretch of the ancient Via Appia, the first major Roman road ever constructed. In the museum there are sculptures from the site and surrounding area, along with some interesting displays about Roman economy and trade.

Minturno non è solo area archeologica e cimitero di guerra ....Minturno ha un centro storico di tutto rispetto arroccato sulla collina anticamente ben protetto dalle antiche mura oggi nel vecchio borgo ritroviamo chiese molto interessanti e il castello .La cattedrale del borgo antico conserva un pergamo tra i più belli d'italia ... la chiesa dell'annunziata........la chiesa di S. Francesco . Minturno uno degli ultimi comuni del Lazio chiude il Golfo di Gaeta.....

Für nur 10,-€ kann man hier durch schöne Ruinen wandeln. Sich in einem alten Theater hinsetzen oder auf der historischen Strasse laufen. Da man hier nicht so abgeschirmt zu den Bauwerken ist, sondern teilweise sogar durch die Ruinen laufen darf, fanden wir es doch sehr eindrucksvoll.

Sito interessante e ben curato. Personale disponibile e professionale. Difficile da raggiungere date le scarse indicazioni stradali, ma vale la pena perseverare nella ricerca. Consiglio sicuramente una visita

Scrivo questa mini recensione sul Museo Archeologico di Minturno, che ho visitato quest'estate.Il sito merita anche se è un pò piccolo e tra l'altro l'ingresso è a pagamento.Lo consiglierei solo a chi è amante dell'archeologia del periodo romano

Meraviglioso sito, personale disponibile e cortese. Peccato che il sito non sia pubblicizzato a dovere. Anche le indicazioni stradali sono scarsissime. Come sempre accade nel nostro paese pieno di ricchezze da far invidia al mondo intero, le istituzioni non si dimostrano all'altezza del loro compito. 10 e lode al sito e al personale, 0 (zero) alle istituzioni. Visitatelo è ne uscirete estasiati.

consiglio anche una visita all'antico teatro greco di Minturno, più piccolo, ma ugualmente importante come quello di Taormina.

Luogo molto antico che ricorda la vita dei nostri antenati. Sono molto belli da visitare e da capire il valore di tali posti. Consigliato per gli amanti della storia romana
