If you are looking for a place that gives you the possibility to have a full immersion into the Middle Ages, this is the one.Very inspirational for children and adults because the castle is kept in its original conditions but still well preserved.You will be given a tour showcasing some weapons, family crests and the bedroom where Dante Alighieri, the greatest Italian poet, spent several nights and to show gratitude to his guests he later mentioned one of the ancestors of the present owner in his Divine Comedy.Definitely off the beaten path experience where mostly Italians would go.

Personally, I liked very much the visit to this castle and the whole place around. Such a beautiful piece of history and a great panoramic view of the whole city down to the sea side. I strongly recommend this visit if you are in the region. Enjoy it...

Staying at this B&B was a highlight of our five week tour of western Europe. The accommodations were lovely and true to the castle aesthetic. I cannot say enough about the owners or manager! Even in the midst of distinguished guests, I felt a genuine concern for our personal comfort. If you go, make certain you treat yourself to a sunset apertif. The views were breathtaking and the fare was very, very good. All the peace and magic of such a place is had at the price of some convenience if you are not bringing a car, however. There is only one true restaraunt in Fosdinovo (though excellent and reasonably priced), and the buses are sporadic and do not run on Sundays. But please do not let this stop you! We managed well without one and took a day trip by train to Pisa. Overall, this is a wonderful escape to northwestern Tuscany that I would repeat in a heartbeat!

Last week I have visited the Fosdinovo Castle near the village of Sarzana. I found the property amazing and full of history (Dante wrote some chapters of his masterpiece in this castle). I have been told that in summer time, when the weather is not too cold, there is a sort of B&B service. Since the place has been up to now only a summer residence of the noble family there is an atmosphere of home and not hotel. For me this is very important!

castello tipico medioevale tenuto abbastanza bene soprattutto l'esterno,per quanto riguarda il dentro ormai di medioevale non e' rimasto nulla grazie alle razzie naziste,bella la spiegazione della guida che fa anche riferimento ai vari fantasmi che circolerebbero per il castello,le guide sono disponibili anche per un tour notturno,il giro del castello dura circa un'ora e ne vale davvero la pena

bellissimo, piccolo castello medioevale. Interessante visitare la location con visite guidate e ottima l'idea di adibire parte del castello a B&B di alta qualita'. le stanze arredate con mobili che richiamano l'epoca hanno tutte bagni privati. Colazione in una meravigliosa terrazza verandata tra i merli e in lontananza il mare .Gentile il personale e tra le storie di fantasmi, si puo' gustare una esperienza diversa.Si cena fuori dal castello il un ristorante divino nella piazzetta del borgo.Costo intorno ai 100,00 euro a notte.da tornarci sicuramente.Bello per un week and in moto la strada per andarci e' incantevole.Tante scale e nessun ascensore. portarsi una pila per la sera...

Fosdinovo è veramente un piccolo paese che domina la valle del Magra con una vista spettacolare verso il mare.Il castello è veramente imponente e le sue mura sono veramente importanti. Non mi è stato possibile visitarlo visto il periodo invernale, ma ho visto che si possono fare delle visite guidate.Il castello ospitò anche Dante Alighieri.Il paese non offre molto, ma credo sia colpa del periodo invernale.

Ero stato in visita al Castello dei Malaspina in gita alle Scuole Elementari, e mi aveva molto colpito. Dopo 20 anni ci sono tornato, ed è stato piacevole rivedere il castello e rivisitarne le sale. Un pò troppa enfasi sui fantasmi, e la guida -probabilmente la solita di quando ero bambino- parlava un pò a macchinetta, ma nel complesso una bella visita.

Il Castello è piuttosto normale, purtroppo un po' rovinato, ma molto suggestivo. Quello che ha reso speciale la visita è stata la guida molto preparata e comunicativa.

Castello restaurato che domina la valle del Magra con bei panorami sino al mare. Sorge sulla sommità del colle e alla fine della cittadina di Fosdinovo. Ospitò anche Dante Alighieri durante le sue peregrinazioni durante l'esilio. Merita una visita.
