We stayed at the Park Napolean Hotel which only offered a shuttle here 1x/day so the first day we took a taxi ourselves, which wasn't outrageous. The hotel had someone meet us there since they have their own, roped off area with complimentary seats + umbrellas for guests (otherwise you'd pay a hefty amount to rent these there). However, since we were arriving in the late afternoon, our chair was toward the very back/no unobstructed ocean view. No big deal.As you drive/wind down the hillside, you'll catch a quick glimpse of La Biodola down below. With all its shades of blues it was quite stunning.The beach itself is littered with people and a lot of hotels have their stake on land. Still, there is enough area if you do not have these connections. The vehicles were lined halfway up the hill when we arrived so it will be difficult and/or a far walk to find parking.While on the beach a few peddlers approached us. There is a snack bar (maybe 2-3 total) at the back part of the beach near the road. Keep in mind this is more removed from non-European tourists. For example, the cashier could not understand my English/only spoke Italian so I was helped by another employee who spoke very broken English. Likewise with the guests, they seemed mostly Europeaners on holiday.Went twice & at low tide you could go quite far... practically to the sailboats anchored further away from the beach. La Biodola is U-shaped and framed on both sides by hills. However, this is a developed area so there are many houses/hotels on these hills. Definitely not the most remote beach on Elba I would think, but for us it was still relaxing. The water was warm, but after about an hour in it I grew cold, and beautifully blue! Nice location, nice size, nice sand. It was hard to find a place (sunbed + umbrella), but it did worth it. It is quite interesting to walk up to the cave at the far left end. It is also advisable to rent a kayak and look around in the water.

We came to this beach on sunny day. It was difficult to find a parking place not far from it. I was lucky to find a parking along the road at 100m of the beach but when we came back somebody had damaged it and was gone. The beach is really nice, nice sand, warm and large band if not deep warm water. Nice view. But really crowded place!

Very nice beach , but not only white sand and cristal water; nice also by boat for a nice break far from too noise. According my opinion , perhaps too many people in august , but it's worth a visit and a rest there.

surely on of the nicest beaches we´ve seen on Elba, Biodola is a fine sany beach with crystal clear waters, splitted into two parts by a small steep rock.

One of the best beaches I've ever been at. Very clean, great water, breathtaking sunsets! Very fine white sand and of course also opportunities to do jet ski, diving and so on. Good beach bars around, however, very silent and nothing to shop or so. Very silent and romantic.

La prima volta che ci andammo, tre o quattro anni fa, c'era un'acqua cristallina mai vista prima nella quale nuotavano frotte di minuscoli gamberetti.L'estate scorsa l'acqua era meno esaltante e zeppa di meduse. Bisogna tener conto del fatto che, in generale, il mare è migliore quando il vento soffia da terra. Resta, comunque, una bellissima spiaggia di sabbia molto chiara, ampia e comoda, con un fondale sabbioso che digrada molto dolcemente. Gli unici problemi riguardano il frequente affollamento, la difficoltà di parcheggio e i servizi in spiaggia piuttosto scarsi. Molte macchine sono parcheggiate lungo la strada in salita che porta alla Provinciale. Molti parcheggiano anche abbastanza lontano. I vigili spesso passano a fare multe alle auto lasciate fuori posto. Le poche aree di parcheggio vicine alla spiaggia sono proprietà degli alberghi in zona. E' possibile fermarsi alla rotonda in fondo alla strada, vicino alla spiaggia, per lasciare moglie, figli e bagagli, ma poi si deve andare a caccia di posto per l'auto. So che qualcuno utilizza l'autobus di linea che si ferma alla rotonda, ma non so come funzioni e quali orari abbia. Alcuni posti auto a pagamento si possono trovare a Scaglieri, una spiaggia nello stesso golfo collegata alla Biodola da un breve e stretto sentiero che passa sulla scogliera. Gli stabilimenti in zona sono (tutti?) in concessione agli alberghi; di questi, alcuni affittano gli eventuali spazi non occupati dai loro clienti. Comunque, non mi sento di consigliarli: ne ho provato uno che offriva solo ombrellone, lettino (o sdraio) e poco spazio ad un prezzo poco conveniente; bagno e spogliatoio praticamente assenti. C'era di buono, che mi avevano consentito il parcheggio nell'area dell'hotel. Per gli ospiti di un albergo vicino, la scarsità di servizi in spiaggia non è un grosso problema, ma può essere estremamente scomodo per chi viene da fuori con figli piccoli e non è attrezzato un minimo. A proposito di servizi, al centro del golfo c'è un bar con bagno esterno, ma è sempre molto affollato e caotico. Collegato al bar c'è anche un ristorante, che a dire il vero non ho mai provato. Personalmente, preferisco ripercorrere il passaggio sulla scogliera e andare a Scaglieri, dove si trovano due o tre bar-pizzerie-ristoranti, oltre ad un piccolo market adiacente al parcheggio a pagamento. In genere preferisco dare giudizi che siano almeno in parte positivi. Faccio un'eccezione: a Scaglieri, ritengo che sia da evitare il Piccolo Bar, a meno che nel frattempo non abbia cambiato gestione. Non ne ho trovato traccia su Tripadvisor... e ci sarà il suo bel perché. Quando ci fermammo a mangiare, qualche anno fa, trovammo i gestori ben poco accoglienti (e io sono di Genova!). L'estate scorsa, la pessima impressione è stata confermata. Già l'ingresso del locale (sia dalla strada, sia dalla spiaggia) non risulta particolarmente accogliente: un cartello invita a non utilizzare l'ingresso del bar come passaggio per la spiaggia e verso la strada. Bene, avranno i loro motivi... ma mi sembra un ottimo sistema per indisporre e allontanare i potenziali clienti. Inoltre, l'estate scorsa li ho visti rimandare indietro una famiglia straniera che aveva un bambino con difficoltà di deambulazione.

Spiaggia di sabbia tra le più grandi dell'Isola d'elba...Anche in inverno si riesce a prendere un po' di sole e godersi il panorama splendido...
