This is one of the best presented museums I have ever visited although only covering one floor. Beautiful display cases with fascinating contents and plenty of information in English as well as open pots of different herbs to smell. Really interesting and a must-see if in Sansepolcro.

The museum is excellent. It is one of the most careful presented museums we visited. The whole combination of exhibits, storey telling, signage, house, furniture forms one complete visual experience. The information is just about the right level. If you're into herbs, plants, pharma, historic houses, this is your thing

Really interesting museum in Sansepolcro, all about pharmacy and herbal medicine over the centuries. You get a discount if you have been to the Museo Civico to see the Piero Della Francesco paintings.

The museum is laid out so that one can follow the progression of herbal use over the centuries. It was a fascinating experience.

The herb museum is easily found in the centre of Sansepolcro. The staff are helpful and speak good English. I wasn't quite sure what to expect but there is something in this museum for everyone. As a non-expert I was fascinated by the different scents of the huge variety of herbs on display. There is also a fascinating collection of ceramics, glassware and other artefacts. The exhibits are well-presented but not surprisingly the information is mainly in Italian. I used a translation app on my iPhone when I wanted to know the name of a herb in English. All in all this is a unique museum which you should definitely visit if you're in the area.

Found this little place while on holiday in Tuscany and staying in an apartment up the road in Anghiari. As a pharmacist it appealed to me and the smells brought back memories of some of my uni classes. It's one of those places that's worth a look, but will appeal to anyone interested in the history of pharmacy, pharmacognosy, medicine or herbs in general. Lovely building too.

As an avid gardener, I was fascinated by the Aboca Museum. The exhibition is beautifully displayed and thoughtfully organized. The heady scents from the herb drying room permeate the entire floor, and the cases and artifacts are simply wonderful---botanical prints, glass vials, ceramic apothecary jars, scales, as well as a kitchen and the implements used for preparing and distilling. There are wall labels and brochures in English, making this a very accessible museum for the non-Italian speaker. Though many of us love plants, few realize how great a role herbs have played in history. I was most fascinated by the description of the plant-specialist's evolution from tribal shaman to medieval monk-herbalists, to apothecary, chemist, and ultimately pharmacist. I was able to get into the Aboca Museum for 4 euros on a reduced entry. This summer a group of museums in Arezzo and Sansepolcro have a program whereby you pay full price for the first one and then get reduced prices to all the others.

I found this museum by chance. I wish I'd had more time there really as it is wonderfully done. As someone else commented, the English brochure is very detailed. You walk through a series of rooms related to herbal medicine and botanical study, all gorgeously displayed and scented by bowls of herbs. It features some exquisite botanical drawings from herbals. If you have any interest in plants, or botanical visuals, this place will have a real charm.
