This is one of the most famous landmarks in Trieste. I suggest visiting it during the Barcolana boat race. Spectacular photos from there!

A very pretty lighting house with amazing view on Golf of Trieste. Romantic place to visit and a charming angel sculpture in the top of it.

You can have an excellent view of the gulf and the Regatta Barcolana, really easy to get, just take the bus 42 or 44. On the day of the Barcolana wich is the biggest regatta in Europe you need to get there really early to catch a good spot. But it's definitive worthy.

The last attraction of our Trieste holiday was the resplendent Victory Lighthouse that we walked to, even though we were strongly advised to take a bus by a local we asked for directions. But it’s only about 4 kilometres from the centre and we are avid walkers. We climbed the stairs to the top, reputedly about 200 steps, for panoramic views over Trieste. During the holiday from the seafront we often saw what looked like a pyramid surrounded by scaffolding on the nearby hill. I asked the attendant whether this was a hotel but it turned out to be Mariano Temple of Monte Grisa, the triangular-shaped church known by the locals in Trieste as the 'little cheese'.On one view towards the sea I saw in an undeveloped area what looked like small structures. I asked the attendant whether it was a cemetery. But interestingly it turned out to be the old paving stones from the Piazza Unita following the repaving after the year 2000. Apparently as yet no one has found a worthwhile use for them. Our visit coincided with a great sunset over the sea and city that was spectacular from the top of the lighthouse and on the walk back to the city centre.
