Even the locals call the sanctuary a "mad" place. The church is studded with exotic ex-votos (including a crocodile) and lined with scary sculptures of martyrs being martyred. Once a year Grazie is a meeting-place for gypsies, who draw colour-chalk pictures on the square in front of the sanctuary. Each time we went the place was crowded to capacity by the faithful, and the worship service was quite ordinary inasmuch as we could judge, with an altogether decent sermon in understandable Italian.

I had never seen such a wooden decoration. Both laterals are covered by handcrafts statues, mainly representing people who was saved by the Virgin... You may believe it or not, but the result of this popular religiosity are astonishing, and touching

If you come to be around Mantua ( Northwest Italy ) do not miss to pay a visit to this really unique gothic church located in the small village of Curtatone. Actually I wouldn't prevent you from enjoying the feeling of amazement and oddness once you'll cross the main door of the church ... I'd prefer to leave you with that curioisty ... I just advice that a crocodile is waiting for you, so watch out ! One more tip. On the right hand side of the sanctuary you find an arch : pass through and a road will lead you ( 150 m ) to the river ( Mincio ) where you find the dock of Mincio's Boatmen. Special flat boats will take you in the heart of the Mincio Natural Park ( it is the Natural Reserve of the Mincio's “valleys”, a humid environment of exceptional beauty ).The excursions come down the river through the Reserve, towards Borgo Angeli, the Superior Lake and Mantua. A real must.

Molto suggestivo da non perdere per chi visita Mantova e poi la sera antecedente il ferragosto sul sagrato si possono vedere i maestri madonnari all'opera bellissimo

Consigliatissimo, se siete nel mantovano! Una vera chicca! Inoltre proprio dietro alla chiesa si può far una bella passeggiata sulle rive del fiume, immersi nel verde.

Bel Santuario e minuscolo ed originale paese dove è situato. Molte delle decorazioni sono in legno. Tante statue dipinte, rappresentanti ex-voto e miracoliIl Santuario è situato sul Mincio: molto bello anche se lo abbiamo visto in pieno inverno.Il parco è attrezzato per escursioni

Siamo stati a Novembre un sabato pomeriggio. Nebbia vento freddo e pioggia. Nel paese noi e altre due persone. Il santuario è molto bello, particolare e ben tenuto vale sicuramente una visita.Unica cosa che mi ha veramente deluso è che sia una zona a traffico limitato ( un posto per pellegrinaggi??!! ) e che le uniche due vie che portano al santuario e la piazza di fronte siano soggette a controlli con telecamere. Ovviamente presa multa ( 90€ ) ...sinceramente ne sono rimasto un pò schifito. Visto il numero di abitanti del paesino ( massimo 100 ) potrebbero benissimo chiudere con transenne in caso di eventi senza speculare sulle multe o rendere liberi i passaggi almeno il sabato e la domenica.

Devo onestamente dire che il Santuario non mi ha impressionato,niente di particolare ma forse una maggiore illuminazione interna potrebbe maggiormente dare risalto alla doppia fila di statue che adornano le pareti.Divertente ed interessante il coccodrillo imbalsamato appeso al soffitto in memoria di un antico miracolo avvenuto sul Po.

Bello il parco attorno al santuario in riva al Mincio...L'interno un pò lugubre ,che non mi è piaciuto in modo particolare..Dentro la chiesa i tanti ringraziamenti appunto per le grazie ricevute..E' comunque una gita che si può fare se unita ad una bella escursione sul Mincio.
