After doing a similar but shorter driving experience in Las Vegas, I wanted to experience the Ring with a co-pilot who knew the track. I chose Rent 4 Ring based on the reviews of others that had used them before. After arriving at their facility about 1/2 mile from the entrance to the track, I checked in easily and efficiently, being told about what I should be doing during my drive. The day I drove was a "track day" meaning that minivans with 6 people in them wouldn't be on the road. This was also a negative - highly experienced drivers of Porsche, Audi and even a McLaren were also sharing the road with this Ring rookie, easily advancing on my car and passing me constantly. I drove the Scirocco, a paddle-shift car, that cannot be over-revved. The car had plenty of power to motor down the straights (I found out gentle, curving sections are considered straights on the Ring) and great handling and grip through the numerous curves on the track.My co-pilot, Andy, was exceptional. After completing my laps, I looked into his history on the internet - quite an accomplished motorcycle rider that has many thousands of laps on the Nurburgring. He is a non-excitable type of instructor, feeding you information as you drive as a co-pilot would do with a rally car driver. Being a pilot, I know how to minimize risks, and going with a co-pilot on your first experience is the way to go. Expensive, yes, but well worth the cost - you get around safely with a super teacher and you are always in control of the car, not the other way around. With his help, I stayed within the lines, which is good on a race track.Looking back at the afternoon, I can honestly say that driving the Ring is about the most fun that one could have with their clothes on. Totally an excitement rush, but, with the co-pilot on board, a controlled high speed experience.Another thing crossed off my bucket list, but this one will be repeated again.
