I recently enjoyed 3 weeks at 3 different mineral springs in Germany, namely Baden-Baden, Bad Bergzabern, and Bad Ems. The hotels often give a discount card to guests which allows them one hour free each day at the baths. The woman I rented an apartment through at the information centre in town, forgot to give me a card on the first date of arrival and I asked at the Emser Therme, if they could give me one hour for the previous day since it wasn't my fault I wasn't given the card when I arrived. The manager said a flat out no. She could easily have even verified what I told her but it was more important to her to be strict with business and take my money than to make a customer, dropping 300 euros in 2 weeks, happy. While I enjoyed all the baths, my prference was Baden-Baden. It has a very friendly, romantic feel to it, evenings, it's just beautiful. Emser baths each area is more purposeful but the design is not as unifying and you can't swim outdoors from the indoor pool.. Shame that they didn't put a hot tub out by the sauna on the Löhr River. Bad Bergzabern was very nice with blue mirrors on the ceiling and lighting was awesome.

3 of us in our family from England with no german language skills visited Emser Therme on July 13th 2014. The lady on reception was very helpful. She personally took the time to show us how the locker works and the wrist bands. The experience was great.A variety of pools at varying temperatures and a nice atmosphere. Couple of tips which may seem obvious to those that visit pools often but 1. make sure you have some sort of rubber sandals as you will need these when moving from pool to pool. 2. take your own towels or share or buy cheap ones as its 5 euros to hire one towel.

A stroll through the gardens along the Lahn river, lunch and or cappuccino in restaurants and cafe's along the park/river is very relaxing, a special place to be. The flowers are spectacular throughout the year, culminating in a flower parade with floats in August. Ems was first mentioned in the annals around 880 A.D. In earlier times it was inhabited by the Romans. They knew and enjoyed the benefits of the water containing many important minerals. They also exploited the silver mine there. Sadly none of the roman constructions are left, with exception of the fountain "Römer Quelle" in front of the Grand hotel In the 17./18th century Bad Ems was one of the most famous Spas in Germany. It was ruled by the nobles of Oranien-Nassau and Hesse-Darmstadt.At the turn of the 19th. and it was summer residence for european monarchs and artists, such as emperor Wilhelm 1., the cars Nicolaus and Alexander of Russia, Richard Wagner, Russland, ,Wassili Wereschtschagin, Fjodor Michailowitsch Dostojewski etc.The Promenade, the park, not to mention the Grand Hotel, Casino, the Spa. Emser salts are a wellness remedy as are the mineral springs. A cable car takes you up to Malberg, a grandiose view of the Lahn valley below. On top you will find a restaurant with good food, a big terrace overlooking the valley. Bad Ems is offering special events throughout the year, check the net.

We decided to stay in Bad Ems for night between business meetings. We found Emser Therme a wonderful place for adults and children alike. The natural salt springs was so finely developed and executed on this property. Saunas, massages, indoor and outdoor thermal pools. I loved it so much that I made my family get up the next day early in the morning so that we could have a couple more hours there before heading home. The restaurant on the premises was kind of low key looking. TO my surprise I ordered the fit salad the first night and the next morning. I love this place and will come often.

Went last month to see facility after total make over. First impression was ok. Entering the changing area took a while, cause people don't quite know how to use bracellet system, so couple ahead of us took a good bit of time to figure how it works.Finding locker and place to change is a challenge, takes around 5min. Extremally children unfriendly. No signs showing where Family cabins are, so we stuck in tiny qubicle with our 1year old. Not to mention that there is no Baby Changing Facility (asked staff). I had to change my 1 year old on the floor of the cabin!!! Joke! It's 21st century, even gasolines have one!Thems itself are nice, very modern, I can imagine that people might have a nice time there. On the way out, same difficulties, had to q to family changing facility, change child on the cold tiled floor, then had to wait to use hairdriers (well in January you don't want to rush with wet head to parking - which is good bit of walk outside, no corridor or connection to main bulding). After all the stress another q to check out gate, Family with 4 kids ahead of us couldnt cope with bracellets again. Finally someone of front desk came to help them out. Got to the finish line, when it turned out that we were 11minutes late!!! And therefore we are due some amount. I couldn't believe the additiude!!!!!!If weren't stopped by lack of changining facilities we wouldn't be late. Anyhow, terrible front desk, very very unfriendly. I think people should be charge for using therm itself, if you pay for 2 hours, it should be for using pools and other rooms, rather then paying for stucking in changing rooms. If place is not fit and designed for kids and do not cater for Families, kids shouldn't be let in at first place. No courtesy time what so ever. With 2 or 3hours stay there should be at least 15min!!Bottom line is, it was such a stressfull experience what we will never be back again and neither will any of people that came with us.
