Attached to the tasting room at Fitz-Ritter Winery (across the street from The Barrel), the Oenosphere is the "underworld" of the winery. This large wine cellar has been set up as a mini-museum with interesting displays, information and historical equipment from the family winery that dates back to 1785. Unlike most of the many wineries in the area, this one specializes in "sekt" or sparkling wine. The ones we sampled were delicious, unusual, and affordable, and we enjoyed touring the Oenosphere cellar to learn about how they were made.
