The commercial side is VERY expensive with all the top brands and local merchandise. The exhibitions were in the nature of an upmarket theme park and the entry was also rather expensive. What cracked me up was a self-service gold dispenser - just pop in your credit card and get a gold bar or a Krugerrand for a couple of thousand euros - best check your credit limit before you visit!

we were recommended to go here, it was interesting because i like jewlery. We took the time to do a good tour, it was self guided and quite relaxed. interesting to see how jewlery is made and a bit of history along with it. we ended up trying the sample of gold champagne and brought a bottle home, it was great!

It was nice to see that they had plenty of affordable jewelry. They had numerous old machines on display that were also very interesting. I am glad we went.

This is an interesting complex as it has a museum, a workshop, where I have seen a little girls birthday party making necklaces, cafes, coffee shops, high end jewelry stores and affordable jewelry stores. One place not to miss on the ground floor is a shop (Kunst and Design) that features one of a kind, yet affordable jewelry from local people and students from the Pforzheim University.

The Shmuckwelten is worth a visit for the English speaking visitor to Pforzheim; all displays are in both English and German. The museum has informative and interesting sections on the grading and making of pearls, the grading of diamonds, the geographical location of precious jewels, the processes for making gold and the unique aspects of the Black Forest, including traditional dress and Cuckoo clocks. The temporary exhibit was a fascinating collection of photos of Elizabeth Taylor in her glory days. The exhibits are beautifully displayed, well cared for and the staff are friendly and helpful. There was a family with children visiting at the same time as us, and though there are not activities geared specifically towards, the children seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Ich bin vor 2 Wochen zufällig am oberen Eingang der "Schmuckwelten" vorbeigekommen. Im Eckschaufenster hing ein Plakat "Sale - Tissot-Uhren 50%". Spontan ging ich den daneben liegenden Eingang rein. Offensichtlich wurde großflächig umgebaut, alles leer oder verschlossen und dafür Bauarbeiten zu sehen. Nach fast 10 Minuten rumlaufen und Suchen sah ich zwar einige Ecken inmitten der Großbaustelle, an denen der Verkauf weiterlief, aber das beworbene Angebot war nirgendwo bekannt oder zu sehen. Also zurück zum Eingang und an die mit einer Dame besetzte Theke. Kaum war ich eine Minute gestanden, beendete sie schon ihr offensichtlich privates Telefonat. Auf meine Frage hin, wo der Sale sei, telefonierte sie dann dienstlich. Ergebnis war, daß der schon länger vorbei wäre. Nun ja. Ich schreibe dies, weil auch frühere Besuche dort auch nicht sooo begeisternd waren und ich nun gespannt bin, was der Unbau bringt. Jedenfalls mühte man sich sehr, die vor wohl über 30 Jahren zu sterben beginnende und inzw. weitgehend begrabene Schmuckindustrie weiterleben zu lassen. Das Verkaufsangebot war weitgehend identisch mit dem Angebot in Ladengeschäften anderer Städte.

Ein Rundgang zeigt die Entstehung von Schmuck. Man kann auch Schmuck und Uhren in allen Preislagen besichtigen und kaufen. Ist schon ein Besuch wert.
