This typical greek village was abandoned in the 1970's due to shortage of water. It is now used at night as a discotheque with free bus service from the main village. Really cool!

Utterly fascinating, and it is quite a big village, but you need to be able to walk well and need more than sandals. You must take water. There is evidence that some of the broken down stone cottages are being revived. You can find shade in some buildings to rest and take lunch.

A short hike uphill from Livadia (20 - 40 min) is the deserted village Mikro Chorio, now inhabited by shy goats and birds. It is well wort a visit and a proper look around, just be careful with the lose stones. At night there is a bar that I unfortunately didn't have the energy to visit. A mini bus takes you there, alt good shoes and a strong torch. Heavy! :-)

Special place to visit. We went there on a daytrip, must be even more spesial at nighttime.Goats everywhere.

fascinating history, which was complemented by the amazing story from the owner of the superb Mediterranean delights restaurant. Stelios and Effie (father and daughter team) mentioned Stelios used to live in the village as a child. His first 'life' memory was as a three year old, being given a tin of sweets by a Brittish soldier in 1944 in the old village. I will never forget the feeling of emotion from such a lovely person as he told the story, as it also came with some tragic tales from World war 2.

the place is super nice, incredible, it a bar in a desert village... it's an experience. it could be better!!! drinks are super expensive compared to the rest of the island and the music is so unapropriate to enhance the beuty of the place and the stange atmophere... i love hard rock... but actually it's not the music for a plce like that!

walking to the church, at 14th August, with all the abandoned village lighted and seeing the stars is one of my best summer memories. Visiting mikro horio is a must see at tilos.

A small and pretty village with steep winding alleys and narrow streets. There are 2 or 3 tavernas but I would recommend walking to the coast at Eristos and eating the home cooking at Eristos Beach Hotel. Really good value and very tasty. The church has a beautiful churchyard. It is a place to go if you enjoy walking. There is a lovely walk to Skafi Beach which takes about 40 minutes but watch out for the bees...we both got stung! but the walk was worth it to arrive at the beach which is great for swimming, and have it to ourselves. There are other good walks in the area.

A unique bar that has preserved the abandoned village and offers a fantastic and mystical scenery where you can have your drink and enjoy a great view of the traditional village. They really deserve my congratulations.PS. Don't forget there is a free bus to the bar and back !!

This deserted village is reached by a stiff climb up from the main road where the bus driver drops you on request. At first you reach heaps of stones, tumbledown buildings, and think this is it, but when the residents left they took with them their doors and windows and any stones that could be used rebuilding their new houses in Livadia. However, as you climb further up, you come across a group of brilliant blue delphiniums, then some houses that are almost complete. Some have letters and numbers on their walls - this is not graffiti but statement of ownership as many belong to families who have long since emigrated to America, Australia and Germany! Do they know they own property in Greece? The church looks in immaculate nick, are there services here? The night club too looks ready to go-go - what an excellent place to have a disco where the noise troubles no-one! Heaps of atmosphere and contrasts, a photographer's paradise. Ps. Wear a good pair of shoes.
