Returning to Poulati after a good 3 decades I am amazed to find the same 'path less travelled' leading from the church, an example of architecture, to the beach. It takes less than 10 minutes, sporty shoes and spirit of adventure. A bottle of water is a must and a pair of fruits will be appreciated if you stay for 2 hours plunging repeatedly to emerald waters from friendly rocks. Check the wind and not go too late to enjoy the golden sun of September. Your eyes and ears will appreciate the serenity unbothered by voices and mobiles. Return via the path to Kastro and have lunch or drinks. The landscape welcomes photographers & poets.

Poulati can be reached either by vehicle or it's a half hour walk from Artemonas. The tall rocky outcrop protects a small cove with crystal clear blue water and flat sections of rock where you can sun yourself. Well worth the visit.

Quiet a distance to walk there. Rocky place with difficult access to the water. Not recommended specially to children.

Despite the title for this review, it was the food of Sifnos that had our taste buds percolating. But to precede to the eating adventure ,proper sacrifice had to be laid in order to please the stomach and waist gods. To the point,a swim was the best option, given the walk down and back, the fantastic views and the gob-smacking clarity and colour of the inviting water was superlative. Just possibly because,or despite its relative obscurity, few people who know Greece, have ever heard of Sifnos. Be that as it may, it is one of the most, remarkable of the Greek islands. In the first place,it was rich. Its long abandoned silver and gold mines had made the islanders the wealthiest in 6th century Greece. By the 1st century Sifnos pottery had become its most successful export, its heat-resistant qualities were particularly prized, hence the number of often eccentric home-made chimney pots you will see on the island as well as,ceramics incorporated into house walls. I asked a taxi driver in Athens to take me to the Sifnos boat... his immediate reaction was,"ahh, you are going to meet the best cooks in Greece". he was right. There is a succession of of dishes like, pork cooked in wine, mushroom & herb rabbit stew, spicy vegetarian spaghettis, sloshing copper jugs of country wine and unforgetable breakfasts under the trees on the Kamres waterfront, with mouth-watering concoctions of yoghurt, fruit, nuts, and long, fresh fruit juice, eggs and crispy bacon, expresso coffee, what you will. All enough to re-educate the next waiter on the next island who brings you rusks,luke-warm water,a sachet of instant coffee and some evaporated milk and calls it breakfast. Enjoy.Ps. the museum, church at the summit and the township is a pleasant place to roam and indulge in the constant fantasy of...would'nt it be nice to summer here every year......hmmmmm.

This is an out of the way oasis that inspires one to meditate, relax and commune with nature. It's hard to get there --the road is pretty bad and it's a long walk otherwise. But once there one has the option of walking down to the rocks for a a really wild swim: if it's windy or you are neither athletic nor a VERY good swimmer (not a floater!) do not try it! Aside from the lovely church, there's no restaurant or cafe nearby. You are on your own and you can walk the path to Kastro along the eastern side of the island. It's breathtaking.

Lots of stairs down to Poulati beach but the destination is rewarding. Rocky but with lots of flat rocks to sit and enjoy the scenery after a good swim in crystal waters. Although Sifnos is not the island for you, who are looking for great beaches, this one I have to admit is a winner. As you reach sea level to the right you can also swim nude.

What a fantastic walk and rewarding swim at the end. It was useful having the spring to refill the water bottle before the walk back to Kastro. The Poulati church is worth a look but swimming under the huge cleft rock in the clear blue water is a must

There is a nice path from Artemonas to Poulati with a perfect view.First you see the church and if you follow the path you reach the sea. There is no beach but rocks and the water has wonderful colours!Quiet place away from the thousand of tourists. It's the first place l visit every time l go to Sifnos.

A church built on the outskirts of a cliff on the north side of the island.Amazing view of the north side of the Agian and a favorite for all the "skinny dippers"visiting Sifnos.High cliffs to dive from and flat stone shelves to sun yourself on.A hefty hike from the main road but worth the sweat.
