the tower of St. Martin is located in the old city of Bregenz. it can be reached by walk in 10 minutes from the main place Leutbuehl much easier than going by car. in the tower you get an impression how Bregenz looks like in the medieval times.

The tower contains a small museum about the town history and offers nice views toward the town.Nothing exceptional.

Really worth a visit. Walking distance from the harbor or the city center.Once you get there, you feel like in another world. Martinsturm is in a quiet neighborhood and close to a beautiful chapel. Close by is a statue for the fallen 1st world war soldiers. Also in the close-by churchyard I was surprised to find a small cemetery of fallen 2nd world war soldiers. some of which were killed in the very last days of the war and buried here, a long way from home.

The view from the tower is very pleasant. The items displayed may interest some. But the best thing about visiting the tower is the most enjoyable walk up from the old town. Having visited the tower just keep walking away from town to one of the seats along the path offering a splendid view over Bregenz and the lake.

In a small town like Bregenz with not much to do/see (except for enjoying the wonderful great space along and in view of Bodensee/Lake Constance, as well as food from many restaurants), this monument provides with a nice thing to do and see. Really nice short walk and peaceful neighborhood feeling like we stepped back in time.

I visited the Martinsturm with family on a Friday in October. It is a steep climb up to the tower until you reach the former town gate (Unteres Tor or Lower Gate) and step through to see the Martinsturm. It is nice to look at from the outside and a certain photo opportunity. Inside there is the 'Voralberger Militar-Museum' - a small museum with military arms and weapons. We did not visit this. Next to the tower is St Martin's Chapel, it's free to enter and you can take photos of the lovely frescoes inside. If you're out for a walk in Bregenz, the Martinsturm is worth a visit.

Ближе к католическому Рождеству а точнее за 3 недели до него в нижней части Мартинсштурм-Мартинскапелле(Капелла святого Мартина из Тура) начинаются грандиозные по своей культурной ценности концерты.Вокруг Мартинсштурм в это время Вайнахтсмаркт(рождественская ярмарка).Так вот в 2014 году этот Вайнахтсмаркт вышел на 5 место по Европе среди более 150 ярмарок из разных городов.Очень приятно ходить на концерты в Мартинскапелле.Тем более что город оплатил все коллективы и зрители заранее занимают свои места.Репертуар выступлений начиная от традиционных рождественских песен заканчивая джазовыми коллективами.Вот уже больше 14 лет и я сам выступаю со своими друзьями здесь.Мы поём русские народные песни,колядки,канты а также духовные песнопения посвящённые Рождеству.Всего за день проводится 3 концерта с 3 разными исполнителями по 1 часу каждый.А вокруг Мартинсштурма так красиво в это время.Там работают стеклодувы,делают вручную деревянные поделки к Рождеству.Вот этот дед мороз на фотографии катает детей в повозке с лошадью.У лошади звенят колокольчики.Ради этих минут счастья люди едут даже за 200 км.Такое не в каждом европейском городе встретишь.

Den Martinsturm haben wir bei einem kleinen Rundgang durch Bregenz entdeckt. Schön anzuschauen, aber dennoch nur ein kleiner Turm.

... und kein freier Ausblick aus dem Turm.Im Turm ist ein Museeum mit wechselnden Ausstellungen untergebracht, das den Aufstieg aber dennoch lohnen kann.Zumal man Bregenz nicht verlassen sollte, ohne in der Altstadt gewesen zu sein.Zudem ist die Kuppel die größte Zwiebelkuppel mit Holzverkleidung Europas und ein Wahzeichen Bregenz`.

Ein Spaziergang hinauf zur Oberstadt und zum Martinsturm ist toll. Die Aussicht über Bregenz und den See lohnt das bisschen Treppensteigen. ....
