If you like and appreciate history and archeology, this is another good spot. The entry fee is 2.50 euros. Which is not expensive but you can get a week pass for a little more and it becomes a better value deal.I understand that the money goes to the upkeep. Please show us how you upkeep !!!! As seems that the place is deteriorating.

Went there today (Sunday) just to find out that the site is closed on Saturdays and Sundays!! And I am now wondering when we are supposed to get a glimpse of our own cultural heritage since we work on weekdays... Such a disappointment...

Choirokoitia, Kalavasos-Tenta provides evidence of initial establishment at the end of the 7th millennium B.C. of sedentary communities on the island, who originated from the neighboring mainland. They developed an original civilization: the Cypriot Aceramic Neolithic. The settlement is surrounded by walls and consists of buildings with simple circular or double circular ground plans built with sun-dried mud brick or stone or a combination of both.To see the hand paints found here, don’t miss visiting the Nicosia Museum! It is considered a ‘must visit’ if you come to the island.

We had driven past this site a few times before we actually realised what it was. This year we decided to visit it and for 2 Euro 50 per adult it is very interesting.

We had seen this structure many times on our journeys to and from Limassol and were curious to see what is was about. So one day we decided to pull off the motorway and see what we would find. The signs from the motorway were fairly to follow and the ticket lady most helpful. The Kalavasos Tenta is an excavation of a 6000BC village which housed, at its height, over 100 people/families. The remains of the settlement have been tastefully preserved and are easily followed from the guide leaflet and notices dotted around. At an entrance price of €2.50 we were quite happy and my husband who is into architecture was very impressed..

Small tented site but quite fascinating to learn of people living 7000m years B.C. Not many other visitors-easy to get to & park. For me a must--not for everyone

We were staying in the area and so we could see the huge tent every time we drove past. We therefore called in one afternoon and saw the whole thing in 30 minutes. It might be worth longer if you have a specific interest in this period, but we wouldn't have been pleased to have driven out of our way, or to have spent more than a couple of Euros on the entrance fee.

Fascinating, well kept site. Suggest that you visit this and the other site at Chirokitia. An insight into an ancient civilisation.
