The shortest river in Serbia at just 365 meters from where it gushes out of the hills (unfortunately neither visible nor accessible) to where it plunges over a waterfall into the River Drina. Along the way a peaceful gladed river with a wonderful dammed sheltered area overlooked from a bridge by the road from where you can look down at the trout many of which escaped from the nearby trout farm and are protected so have grown huge, (no fishing!!). At the end by the waterfall is a pleasant restaurant specialising in trout, (no surprise) but not in service. Still worth a visit.

I went to Tara Lake Perucac, and along the way we visited and this river, which is unusually clean. It is named for its length of 365 meters, as there are from the source to the mouth. Beautiful scenery located in its surroundings.

Water in this river is clean like tears! Unique river - the shortest one and on the end amazing waterfall! This is the heaven! :)

Reka Godina (Year River) is because its 365 meters long. River ends with beautiful waterfall into river Drina. In river you can find trout. Before there was a colony of gold yellow trouts, but now there is just a couple left. Over the waterfall is a restaurant with beautiful view on river Drina.

The river “Vrelo” is as beautiful as it is short. It is part of the National Park Tara, one of the beautiful Nature Parks in Serbia. It is hard to tell which is the most beautiful. I have visited the Nature Park Stara Planina (Old Mountains in the neighbourhood of Knjaževac and Pirot), the Special Nature Reserve of Uvac (in the neighbourhood of Sjenica, Nova Varoš and Kokin Brod), Zlatibor Mountain (near Čajetina), National Park Kopaonik (south from Kraljevo) and Tara. All are very beautiful with astonishing views and panoramas. All I want to give at least a 9 and close to a 10 for their nature. Also it is good to watch the number of good accommodations (hotels, pensions and private) are growing and also other facilities like roads and good paths for walking, hiking and biking.I always wonder why rivers like the Drina, Lim and Uvac can have such a green shining at several places. The river Vrelo has a very beautiful waterfall into the Drina. The restaurant “Vrelo“ is situated just a few meters away and partly right above the waterfall of the river Vrelo into the Drina. To sit there and to see and know about the nature around is astonishing.Sometimes you only want to sit down, to relax and to enjoy the nature. But when you are in a restaurant, you have to take some food and drinks. This is not a shame because the food is excellent at his restaurant. Maybe the taste is even better because of the environment, the freshness of air and the joy the nature and the panorama are spreading.When you are coming to Tara not only visit the river and the restaurant Vrelo but visit also the Park. There are a group of mountain peaks who will give you some astonishing panoramas and views, also on the river Drina. Also there are some picturesque gorges and canyons. Somewhat further away in the District of Zlatibor you also have the beautiful canyons of the Rivers Mileševke and Lim.We have travelled around and have been only a short period in Tara, because we wanted to see also other National and Nature Parks in Zlatibor and Raška and to visit some cultural monuments. But it is certain you can have a very beautiful holiday in Tara with the lake of Perucac, the mountains and gorges, the canyons of rivers, the food and drinks and if you like this, the folklore and old customs. Also you can have a boat trip on the Drina. But what program you take, don’t forget to have a stop at the restaurant at Vrelo Waterfall. It is hard to find a restaurant which doesn’t offer a good taste. But at this place, the combination of nature, excellent food and panorama is unique. Taste a smoked or fresh trout in combination with a fresh salad and one of the national drinks of Serbia.

Чистейшая, прозрачная река с каскадом небольших водопадов. Есть небольшой мостик, с которого видно, как в реке плавает форель. Место завораживающее, можно бесконечно следить за потоком воды.

В реке водится форель, которую можно наблюдать с моста. Вода в реке очень чистая. Можно подняться 300 метров вверх по течению и посетить рыбную ферму.

Het riviertje Reka Vrelo is veel bekender dan zijn lengte van 365 meter doet vermoeden. Door deze specifieke lengte wordt het riviertje ook wel Reka “Godina” genoemd, wat “Jaar” betekent.Je vraagt je misschien af waarom een waterstroom van 365 meter een rivier wordt genoemd. “Vrelo” betekent “bron” en je zou kunnen zeggen dat de waterstroom niet zo veel meer is dan een stroom die een paar honderd meter verderop instroomt in een grotere rivier. Er zijn goede redenen om Vrelo toch een rivier te noemen. Allereerst wordt het riviertje benut als attractie en trekpleister met de vermelding van kortste rivier van de wereld. Daarbij heeft het wel enkele kenmerken van een rivier. Er is een mooie bron. Een heel klein bergstroompje voegt in. Er is sprake van een stroomversnelling en de rivier eindigt met een mooie waterval in de grotere rivier Reka Drina.Wat het nog interessanter maakt is dat om deze waterval heen de terrassen van een idyllisch gelegen restaurant zijn gebouwd. Restoran Vrelo ligt schitterend aan het riviertje en boven de waterval. Naast het mooie uitzicht kent dit restaurant een zeer goede kwaliteit met onder meer verse en gerookte forelgerechten. Het restaurant heeft twee grote en meerdere kleine terrassen, waar vandaan je een goed uitzicht op de waterval en de rivieren hebt.De Reka Vrelo en Restoran Vrelo liggen in het Nationaal Park Tara op een paar honderd meter van het mooie stuwmeer Perućac Jezero op ongeveer 13 kilometer van Bajina Bašta. Perućac Jezero kent meerdere watersportfaciliteiten en goede hotelaccommodaties. Wanneer je dit meer of Tara bezoekt, dan is een bezichtiging van de Reka Vrelo en een bezoek aan Restoran Vrelo veel meer dan de moeite waard.Wanneer je in de periode van ongeveer 20 - 25 juli in de regio bent, informeer dan naar de jaarlijkse Drina Regatta. Gedurende 3 dagen wordt dit waterfestijn gevierd. Dit gaat gepaard met vele festiviteiten, folklore en bazaars. Aan de Reka Vrelo wordt dan een wedstrijd gehouden wie de beste vissoep maakt.
