This area is on the World Heritage Propossed list. It is amazing to think the whole tunnel was carved by hand thousand of years ago. Impossible straight walls thru solid rock. The burial area is all very interesting. One of the best I have seen, even better than Cappadocia and Mardin. There is a fee of 8 tl or you can use your Muse Kart to get in. There are also locals selling home made olive oil soap, pomegranate syrup, herbs, etc. on the path. Make sure you wear sturdy shoes and bring a flashlight. Also, if you continue along the road past the entrance for a few kilometers there are stands selling fresh fish sandwiches which are delicious for 10 tl including a drink. You can sit and watch the waves while you eat. DON't expect to take the coastal road back to Iskenderun unless you have a four wheel drive as the road is washed out.

The Romans decided to divert a river,, so slaves cut a channel along and through the rock for nearly a mile.. The project started around 69-79 AD and was continued during Emperor Titus reign in 79-81 AD. By hiking back to this tunnel you will also have the opportunity to see ancient Seleucia. In 301 BC Seleucia was a port for Antioch (now Antakya). The apostle Peter chose this locale for his first mission to the Gentiles, and his converts in Antioch were the first group to go by the name Christians.

This tunnel dates back to 69, created by human force only. It's about 1.4 kilometers and it was created by the effort of slaves in order to divert the river. It's really amazing to see what humans can achieve, though it's hard to imagine how it has been done. Walking through it is possible only at the first couple of meters as it's quite slippery today. The path next to it leads to "Beşikli Cave" which is a rock cemetery. On the way, there are villagers who are selling water, fresh fruits (in our case it was tangerines as our trip took place in early November), handcrafts, olives etc. Especially the fruits help a lot during the long and hilly walk. The view of Mediterranean Sea from the top is stunning. Once you're in the area, you should not miss this place which combines history and nature.

Titius and Vespanius tunnel, is an acient tunnel, cut through and along the rock, about a mile long, to divert the river bed that was flooding the region which was then serving as the harbor of Antioch. The construction started during the reign of Roman Emperor Vespanius (69-76 Ad) and continued in Emperor Titius reign. It is said that thousands of slaves ( then jewish) were used in construction. Currently the tunnel is dry. There also is a very elegant Roman bridge on the aqueduct.Even though the site is not very well organized ( poor explanations), need some jumping and climbing , the trip is well worth to seefor what can be done by human hand . The region also houses the tombs, of Roman officers and their families , Beşikli Magrasi .You can drive from Antakya or may ask for a bus tour from the city. There is a parking lot and there is an entrance fee, part of the site is easy to walk but you need to wear sneakers to climb and jump where needed. Open air attraction beware of sun in summer time and wear hat and sun screen . There is cafe outside the parking lot on the beach for a light meal, coffee or drinks.

Tunel kendisinin guneyinde kalan ve su anda kumsal altinda kalmis olan tarihi limanin su ve aluvyon baskınlarından korumak icin suyun yönünü kuzeye cevirmek için yapilmis bir yapi. Yaklasik 150 metrelik tamamen kapali bir tunel ve 1 kilometreye yakin ustu acik 10 metre kadar derinlikteki kayaya oyulmus su yolundan olusuyor. Tunelin diger ucuna gecildiginde yeterince kondusyonunuz ve sabriniz varsa tirmanmaya devam ederek yuzulebilecek derinlikte fakat biraz camurlu dogal bir havuza ulasiyor.

Tahle památka která je i na seznamu Unesco byla vybudována za dob Římského impéria na odklonění vody stékající z kopců a spůsobující záplavy v přístavu. Tunel je masivní a jistě dalo práci vybudovat ho. Dejte si ale pozor na obud jelikož je v něm velice kluzko. Musíte dorazit do vesnice Cevlik, tam už tunel hravo najdete. Zaplatíte 5 TL a pokračujete korytem. Dostanete se k malému ale velice hezkému mostu. Vydáte li se na doleva, dojdete k tunelu. Nezapomeňte si u východu z Tunelu všimnou nápis vytesaný Římany do skláy. Vydáte li se doprava dorazíte k velice zajímavým hrobkám v Besikli. Podél chodníku tu místní prodávají různé produkty. Je zde potkat skutečně hodně turistů na to jak je toto místo odlehlé.

Titus tünelini bulmakda biraz zorlanabilirsiniz. Haritalara ve navigasyona güvenmektense yolda rastladığınız kişilere sormanızı tavsiye ederim. Öncelikle halk çok canayakın. Benim sorduğum herkes çok yardımseverdi. Tünele ilk girişte "Bu muymuş?" dedirtiyor. Ama gezerken hiç sıkılmıyorsunuz. Sık sık seyir alanları oluşturulmuş ve buralarda rahatlıkla oturup deniz ve dağ manzarasını seyredebiliyorsunuz. Burdan mı gitsek burdan mı diye diye birkaç çıkmaz yolla karşılaşılsa da işin zevki burda başlıyor. Kaya mezarlarına kavuştuktan sonra geri dönüp tünelin son kısmını geçmek gayet zevkliydi. Ama her girdiğiniz yolda acaba geri mi dönsek diyorsunuz. Dönmeyin ve devam edin. Heryerini gezerseniz üç dört kilometre yol yürüyorsunuz. Şimdiden iyi eğlenceler. Bu arada tünel rahatlıkla geçilebiliyor. Korkmadan devam edin.
