Well'there is not really so much to sea in the castle, except for the ancient Genoese walls and the views. but why not have a look?

need to 2.5-3 hours transport time with three times mini bus changed from Safranbulo to there. A numbers of seafood resturants at the seaside but not many seafood choices and cooking method. Not many international tourist that English speaking is not common. body language is needed. 3 hours walking tour is enough if you do not swim in chills black sea water and lots of rubbish sandy beach.

There are good views from here. I didn't get a chance to check out the whole place. It is interesting to see homes within it. I went to look at the chapel-turned mosque-turned museum, but it was closed.

The castle dates back to Genoa period and it's almost in ruins. In fact there are houses inside and around the castle where people live. So, if you are on your own, it's almost impossible to appreciate the historical value of this place as important details are invisible to ordinary eye. We were lucky to have a very knowledgeable guide with us when we were touring the site (in fact he was a history professor specialized in Amasra) and thus, we have been able to trace the history in the ruins. But otherwise, we would only enjoy the beautiful view from the castle and that would be it.

First of all, there is not such a thing as a castle. It is only possible to appreciate few walls and a falling bridge. In fact, they have built part of the town on top of the castle. The maintenance is poor and shows no respect for the historical (and antiquity) value of the site.

Kaleiçi mahallesindeki zindana girdim muhtesemdi. Kendimi bir an için eski zamanlarda gibi hissettim. Fakat cok karanlikti ve sonunda su vardi tam olarak gidemedim. Ayrica içerisinde cok fazla çöp vardı. Ama yukarisindaki Atatürk büstünden baktigimdaki manzara paha bicilemez. Cidden bir cennet Amasra.
